Bangkok Governor Pol General Aswin Kwanmuang led Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) officers in giving alms to 69 Buddhist monks on Makha Bucha Day (February 8) at Bangkok City Hall.

The activity aimed to preserve, promote and propagate Buddhism as an offering to the Buddha, as well as presenting a royal charity to His Majesty King Rama X.

Makha Bucha Day is the third most important Buddhist festival, celebrated on the full moon day of the third lunar month. It celebrates a gathering that was held between the Buddha and 1,250 of his first disciples, which, according to tradition, preceded the custom of periodic recitation of discipline by monks.

Makha Bucha Day is also known as the Fourfold Assembly Day. On this occasion, the Buddha taught those disciples a summary of Buddhism, called the Ovādapātimokkha.

Why is the Bangkok governor of all people not wearing a mask?

Most of the monks aren't either,

The health minister will be declaring them stateless very soon...
