The chief of the Had Nopparat Thara - Koh Phi Phi National Park has revealed that plans for a new jetty and walkway have been approved for the area of Loh Samah Bay and Maya Bay in Krabi. 

 

Environmental impacts have been conducted,budgets have been approved and contractors assigned. Materials are being sourced.

 

Six million baht is being spent on a jetty in Loh Samah Bay. 

 

Twelve million baht will be spent on a new walkway that will mean tourists will not step on Maya Bay beach. 

 

Woraphot Lormlim said that tourists will be limited to 300/400 at a time and 2,000 a day. 

 

Currently Maya Bay remains closed after damage due to over-tourism. 

 

A video posted on Facebook by Go Eco Phuket showed what the jetty would look like and the area where the walkway would be constructed.

hope thats not the entrance fees?!

Just pack the Chinese into sardine cans, float them around the bay once and collect the money. Easier.

 

Maya bay was famous for it's natural beauty, all of which is now gone thanks to the hordes. Here's a hint: man made structures are not part of nature.

 

The real solution is to limit the number of tourists in Thailand. Find another revenue source, like actually educating your people and moving up in the value chain.

On those prices it will be 22.5 days to recoup the 18 million baht now wonder they are keen to rush it through.

Yeah, it's a shame. Been there 20 years ago, really nice.

People just can't stop destroying nature for profit. Very sad.

 

Common sense is just not in the cards 

I wonder how much environmental damage will be done building these jetties ......

That's the Thai way, find something beautiful and destroy it.

Looks really nice! Hope there's enough room in the planning for somtam and souvenir vendors!

Sadly most of the "attractions" in Thailand have been spoiled and trampled, there's not much left they haven't destroyed. ☹️ 

Leave May bay alone, go and spend the money on the schools or hospitals where it's needed
