Thailand...making a fool of themselves on the world stage...again.

Zig zag as usual.

Monday yes

Tuesday no

Wednesday... yes but

Wednesday 5 PM.... yes ok

Wednesday 8 PM... no (the ship is supposed to dock in Cambodia....)

Rince, repeat.

A show case.

But probably the most disturbing news... is the fregate (thai navy) that follows or escorts (?) the ship !

Better be prepared ! Those damned tourists could attack the holly thai soil ! The thai navy must be prepared and ready to sink the ennemy.

When "grotesque" mates with "obscenity" and "PR obsession". ????

Next step : send the tanks to Suva airport, to greet the.... chinese tourists who still arrive every day...

  • Maybe they thought Thailand would let them in after they kept allowing flights in from mainland China. Little did they know:

Great! ...i still remember the tv-shows every night on Dutch tv where they asked for money for the victims of the tsunami...it was endless....they raised a lot of money to help them and donated vessels, buses and much more.

Also i grew up having 2 Thai foster parent brothers which my parents supported for a decade or so....we helped them a lot and look now....

I'm pretty sure those request for financial help didn't come from the Thais, but were setup by your own countrymen.

Those 2 Thai foster parent brothers were also requested, as in every country, by the foster parents and not placed there by the Thais.

Why are you still here, as each and every post of your is nothing more than Thai bashing.

That ship has confirmed infected persons on board. Only 1 confirmed, but in the mean time probably several more that are not confirmed yet.

So now you want people infected with the virus enter Thailand, so that you thereafter can start bashing Thai authorities for allowing infected people enter Thailand?

Where are you reading that? the Gaurdian reports that there are no confirmed infected on-board.

Link to Forbes stating no cases also. https://www.forbes.com/sites/isabeltogoh/2020/02/12/passengers-stranded-on-coronavirus-free-cruise-ship-call-for-help/#7b55a8804ab5

I read it a few days ago, even before Thailand was considered as docking port, but can't find it now.

Maybe it was false news and has since been removed

So based on there are no confirmed cases it seems ludicrous and inhumane of Thailand to not let them dock, yet they continue to let aircraft fly in - double standards and stupidity at work!

How about the other countries that didn't let them dock? Some of them were planned in advance

Because Japan doesn't want them, after that thailand said they could berth here but later they revoked that....and now only the thai passengers can berth, the rest not.

and then keep following protocols, and send all the thai passengers on to the Naval Base Quarantine set up... , the rest not

not sick, until after they catch it from others already crowding in at the quarantine station... and the the Thais system will be saying "told you so..."

Westerdam cruise ship heads for Cambodia

Holland America Line said on its twitter that the Westerdam cruise ship was heading toward Sihanoukville seaport in southwestern Cambodia and was expected to arrive there at 7am.

It said the Cambodian government has granted permission for the ship to dock and to remain at Sihanoukville port for several days for disembarkation and replenishment.

So why the other 4 countries that refused the ship prior to Thailand are not looking foolish?

In case you hadn't noticed, this is a Thailand based forum.  Most of the discussion is about Thailand.  The name of the forum is Thai Visa Forum.

Edit:  You're posting in the Thailand News sub-forum.

Why don't you answer my question, since it is on topic to the subject.

You probably think it's Thai bashing forum.

Sure thing.  I do think the other four countries are foolish for not allowing the ship to dock, given the circumstances.

But since we're in a Thailand forum, I found it particularly pertinent to discuss Thailand's actions in the matter.

What do you think? made my opinion obvious. If your letting flights in, why not let a ship dock, unless you were looking for revenue.

Because they just said no and didn't change their mind....how hard is that for you?

And not just letting flights in , they even let flights from China in...

I see, so they let the 19 thai berth but the rest not? I didn't know that, why do they have to go to the quarantine base? It's getting more weird every hour now. I guess the other passengers will fly to BKK and from there to Europe.????

True! something doesn't quite add up here, four countries, plus Thailand don't want a cruise liner to dock, for no good reason that is apparent?  ????

Trying to make sense of Thai logic is beyond me, just another "Amazing" Thailand story for the archives, sure the cruise line's and passengers will remember this and tell their friends!

Look if they had been consistent in no grouptours and no cruiseships i could respect/understand that...but then they also shouldn't allow single chinese passengers in and sure not change their mind every hour.

And mr Anutin being angry that 1 farang wouldn't want his mouthmask...today again NOBODY weared a mouthmask here in BKK...i've seen hundreds of people...not in shops, government offices, restaurants...bakeries, nowhere. Only me and my wife weared one.

Now they look like....well you fill it in.

Let me answer you, other 4 countries fully closed it’s borders to chinese or anyone who has been there. Thailand not only has not closed borders but actively inviting Chinese to come

Indeed, what could have been used as a good PR moment (and a save one, a ship with no sick vs daily flights from china where one doesn't know it anyone might be sick...). All ruined by flip flopping authorities and a minister that hates foreigners who refuse wear useless masks.

Westerdam Cruise Ship Update: "Westerdam is now docking in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, arriving at 7am local time on Feb 13 & will remain in port for several days for disembarkation. All approvals have been received & we are extremely grateful to the Cambodian authorities for the support:" I have advised the Thai Health Minister to help Hun Sen with medical staff assistance. "When I visited Hun Sen and the Cambodian Minister of Health some time ago, their health service was pretty poor, lacking in equipment, doctors and well trained staff. They are going to have to cope with 3,500 pasengers and crew. You may want to make sure that no passengers with symptoms make their transit through Thailand."
