Pattaya: German with "money troubles" saved from balcony leap by Thai rescuers

Sanook reported that police and rescue services were called to a South Pattaya hotel after a German tourist threatened to jump from the balcony around midday yesterday.

The man, aged about 60, was waving a bottle of water in his left hand.

The Thais tried to get him to listen to reason as equipment was prepared in case he leapt.

He was on the second floor.

When the situation was unresolved the police managed to gain access to the room where they continued to try to talk him round.

When his attention was diverted they mountred a charge and he was removed from the balcony and taken to calm down at the police station.

There the requirements of the law were followed - what this might entail was not specified in the Sanook report.

But they did mention that this was a Mr Nolte - a German national who has personal problems relating to money.

Glad the police were able to nick Nolte. Check the contents of that water bottle.

Some people want to jump. And some people want attention and others to listen to them...

It’s sad to see men at this age being in a state that he is , money or whatever else troubles.

job well done by police but can not help to pick on them a little , what language did they speak with him? Most police can not speak well enough English to explain where police station is, let alone talk someone down from jumping

Geez, I've got money problems too (too much money, 555) but I've never considered jumping.

We are in Thailand so the Thai police will speak Thai. And maybe another language.

If a German person, or any other nationality, wants to live in Thailand then they should learn Thai or at least English to communicate.

It's not the responsibility of the Thai police to learn lots of languages to that they can talk with people on balconies.

So you must be fluent in thai then? In a sentence of 10 words can get 2 words in thai already ?????

Second floor is no good...badly injured and hospital bills to pick up....go higher much higher to end it all if you are so inclined.....methinks drink/drugs and needing attention are the real reasons for this silly man :whistling:

Pattaya Balcony Divers Club seems to have become more active in the last weeks. Was quiet for a while.

Having a big water bottle in the hand and trying to kill himself when jumping only from the 2nd floor. More crazy than desperate.

I can help you out with your problem, but not too much for you to consider jumping.

"He was on the second floor."

He was threatening to give himself a nasty ankle sprain?

He's gonna try it again

probably, unless he's treated in a good psychiatric hospital in his country - hopefully the money issues force him home where can deal with both his finances and his mental health..

I will only threaten to jump from the first floor...

2nd. Floor ? Sounds more like a tiresome exhibitionist rather than a potential suicide case.

When they say second floor, remember the ground floor is called the first floor.

A normal life includes some problems, happiness and sadness as well as love, joy and hardship. The only thing this man need to be thought is, that everything is not a dance on roses.

lol what an idiot. Wanted to land himself in hospital with a bill he wouldn't be able to pay since apparently he already supposedly had money troubles. Alternatively, maybe he just wanted to be famous in the newspapers and on the internet.

Ive been injured jumping out of bed

Threatening to jump, if he was serious, he would have done it.

More like attention seeking, than a suicide attempt.

poor guy ....  he's just lucky he rented the 2nd floor apartment.
