Thai Airways International in cooperation with Toyota Tsusho (Thailand) and Worldwide Logistics Services (Thailand) are sending medical preventive equipment to China in support of its bid to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), including face masks and protective gear.

Sumeth Damrongchaitham, President of Thai Airways said Toyota Tsusho and Worldwide Logistics Services acquired the equipment from over 30 countries worldwide. Thai Airways has sent the first shipment of 4 tonnes to the Red Cross Society of China and Hubei Red Cross Foundation.

“Red Cross Society of China and Hubei Red Cross Foundation will distribute the items to government-certified donation centres and hospitals in Wuhan and other high-risk areas,” he said.

“Thai Airways, as a national airline and representative of the Thai people wish Chinese in all regions to overcome this crisis quickly. Thai Airways is ready and willing to help China anytime.”

Then, shouldn't your people be holding a sign printed in Chinese, instead of English?

The sign says "Humanitarian Relief For China".

That is just so wrong on so many levels.

The second biggest ecomomy in the world can't "relieve" its own citizens with basic stuff like face masks.

Even if there is more sophisticated equipment in the shipment, why the hell can't a country with nearly one and a half billion people, source that stuff internally and get it to their own people?

Why is it necessary for 30 different countries to stump up the goods several months after it all took off?

Christ al-flarpin-mighty. The Red Cross will be sending chip butties to Birmingham next.
