Popular Post webfact
Thanathorn must take responsibility for his predicament: Chuwit By The Nation Chuwit Kamolvisit, the former leader of Rak Prathet Thai Party which was dissolved in 2019, said “this country is fair” in a personal Facebook post reacting to the dissolution of the Future Forward Party by the Constitutional Court on Friday. “Through all forms of justice, even when the Constitutional Court had judged me in the past, I had the right to speak,” Chuwit, once the country’s biggest massage parlour owner, said. After his arrest in 2003, he publicly claimed that he paid huge amounts as bribes to many Thai police officers. He then sold some of his massage parlours, formed his own political party and unsuccessfully ran for Bangkok governor in 2004. He argued that the political loans and media stock issues were problems that Thanathorn had himself created, and no one else was responsible for them. “If the justice system in the country was used to only dissolve the Future Forward Party, then I would say that there is no justice,” he said. Thanathorn must admit that he was wrong on these two issues, Chuwit said, adding, “If he is fighting against state power, then he should learn to avoid loopholes but he failed and died easily.” He argued that all creditors have influence. “In business, if you seek a bank loan, you must comply with the bank’s regulations. Domination occurs at any time if you don’t follow the loan terms.” Chuwit said that it was impossible to borrow money from the party leader and then claim that the party can operate independently, without the domination of the party leader, who is also the lender. He summed up Thanathorn’s predicament through a Thai proverb which means, “holding the meat that you cannot eat and leather you cannot sit on while the bone is stuck in the throat”. Popular Post Loongharkok
The most powerful weapon under the Juntas control is the legal system. Chuwit himself has cut a deal that has seen all his legal woes disappear in return for his grovelling obedience to the dark side. It is now a simple zero sum game, one side wins and the other loses...all and everything. There is no more middle ground in play. Freedom and democracy or Apirat and an existence consisting of nothing but exploitation and servitude. 6 to 8 million Thais prefer the latter, the ball is in the court of the remaining 60 million. What shall they do???? Edited February 23, 2020 by Loongharkok 5

If Thailand was a democracy, maybe. but it never was; the "legal system" of which you speak has never existed. The only means will therefore be revolution; it didn't work once, twice, a thousand times; it will work one day, be sure.

Popular Post seajae
shows how screwed up thai politics is when you have a criminal able to get voted into politics, this man is a cretin. Who really gives a damn what this pathetic idiot says, he is another that is solely interested in money, graft & corruption was his mainstay just like the current govt. 2

May I suggest that you put the term "a criminal" into the plural as there are plenty of them in the Thai Parliament, though not all have yet been found guilty of anything! ParkerN
Chuwit is desperate to be loved by certain institutions, and to be considered a real businessman instead of a merely another purveyor of sexual services and denizen of the seedy depths of Bangkok. This alone makes his opinion of dubious worth. I don't have any feelings about Thanathorn one way or another but I do have feelings about Prayuth and on the basis of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend', Thanathorn, rather than Prayuth (or Chuwit) would be likely to get my support - for what that's worth. My advice to Mr Chuwit is that most people already know who and what he is and already know how much weight to give his opinions.. If you have nothing of any use to say, then it's best to remain silent. Edited February 24, 2020 by ParkerN

newnative
OK, so you punish the supposed wrongdoer--which had already been done with his removal from Parliament. You don't disband an entire political party.

Grumpy John
The Chinese Thais have the ability to keep the real Thais restrained up to a point......but once that point is reached things could get ugly. For the average Thai living hand to mouth watching Chinese Thai's in their air conditioned office bark out orders, strutting about lathered in gold, driving the latest SUV, having the best of everything....it has to grate! One day they will say "I am not going to take it anymore." Then the show will begin.

In a culture like Thailand the power will always be on the side of corruption, because corruption is the only system they understand. Their best hope is the arrival of a brilliant and benevolent dictator. I'm not holding my breath.
AgMech Cowboy
Thank you, Chuwit. Although your analogy or Thai proverb may seem a little funny. It is well placed. You made your mistakes, claimed them, learned and moved forward. Future Forward would do well to follow your example.

from the home of CC
Unless some fool starts paying a daily rate for 'protesters' like in Thaksins day, the average Thai doesn't have the time to 'hit the streets' while trying to feed the family. But, this same fool, could try to trigger the overthrow of the staunchest tradition in Thai history by using kids as dispensable pawns, shedding their blood to throw the country in disarray. All, to satisfy his billionaire ego of never having been denied anything in his life till now. IMO if children die, so should he..
