Good GP MD with time for consulatations?

Featured Replies

Unlike several people on this forum I have no major problems with CM Ram for basic medical care.  I've used them for many, many years.  I think we're lucky to have so many decent medical services locally.   My problem is that if you want to discuss your general medical history and get a doctor's thoughts on whatever there is rarely time available.  If you go to Ram with a sore throat or a broken arm this is not an issue.

I would like to find a GP or someone outside of Ram or the other hospitals who might be available for general consultations.  For example, I might want to discuss recent blood work or other other medical test results and get their opinion.  Does anyone know knows someone who might fit the bill?  If they are in Ram or another hospital that's fine but I would prefer to go to a private clinic.

Thanks.

Same here.

The 2nd doctor who is named in these threads as being very good has a clinic on Loi Kroh Road.

He's listed in the pinned thread at the beginning of the CM forum.

Grab lists it as Nisachon (Healthcare?) Medical Clinic.

The clinics I have heard about are late afternoon or evening ones after the good doctor has completed his real job.   I do not like those hours and find I do not have to acquiesce to them.   I used to use Ram until BKK Hosp was built.  It is closer to the house so I go there now.   If I want to discuss something, e.g., a blood test, after the day I took it, I simply book an appointment on line with the doctor that ordered it and go in for discussions.   I have also walked in and been seen by the doctor.   At least at Bangkok Hosp, I have not found a doctor in any discipline that will not listen to and answer my question about my health issues and the pros and cons about different treatments.

The ophthalmologist surgeon at Ram we still deal with takes the time to discuss every issue and answer any and all question.    So, Stargazzer, you are saying the Ram doctors you deal with will NOT discuss your medical issues with you?   How old are your doctors?   Are they from the old school of "I am an educated man and you are a village person" era?

"Noise", most of the Ram doctors will always discuss any medical issues I have.  The problem I find is that the clock is running and they seem to want to understand and solve the current problem quickly and move on to the next patient.  One can't help but feel that upper management is acutely aware of how much 'billing potential' each doctor brings the hospital.  As I said, I'd rather have Ram than not.  If you want to discuss several ailments that concern you for perhaps 20 minutes Ram isn't the place no matter which doctor you see.  I don't feel like any of them treat me like a 'village person'.  That's not an issue.   I would simply like a good GP who I can chat with about whatever and not feel rushed.  I'll pay more if necessary.  I've got an appointment with Dr. Morgan so I'll see how that goes.

I've been to BKK Hospital a few times.  The location isn't as convenient for me but I'm glad it's another option.  No complaints.  Nice contrast to Ram.  Not sure why they put the restaurant next to the morgue.  Unusual choice.

I would suggest letting the booker know you have a lot to discuss and will/may need more time than the average patient and can they allot more time than usual and that you will pay more if necessary.
