Just got married and will apply for a non o based on married to a thai national. 1: Do we need to change all her passport/id card/tabien baan before i apply for a visa or it doesnt matter? 2: in the the kor ro 2 it says she will take my last name also, does this need to be done before also, or just bring a copy of marriage certificate when apply(on the certificate it says her maiden name). Should i just go and bring the current docs or change above before go? Any input is greatly apprechiated!

There is no requirement for her to take your name. It is her choice.

No need for the name change to be done to apply for a non-o visa,

For what it's worth my wife kept her surname, and we have left everything that way to simplify the process, I mean there is enough paperwork to do as it is with the marriage extension, and to add changes to her ID, Passport, tabien baan and all the long waits etc etc etc, no thanks, as simple as it can be is the way to go ms ????

Same answer as changing her name. Not a problem.

+1 and i agree 100%, my concern is that the officer who married us wrote on the kor ro 2 (backside) that she would take my last name also, but il happily skip that if possible.

Again thanks, Last question: we got married in bkk and the officer said - last step is to visit local amphur(hometown for mrs)..do we need to register there also or what is the purpose? Or that is only in case of name change etc?

Not really needed other than to show her marriage in the house book. That is not needed for a non-o visa application.

I don't think that will be an issue with immigration, as long as they have an up to date Kor Ro 2 proving that your married, should be all and good, and if they ask any questions regarding her surname, just tell them the preference is that she keep her maiden name to keep things simple and Ubonjoe is the deemed expert when it comes to immigration matters.

The local Amphoe will not change anything on the Kor Ror 2 unless it is an error.

As already said the Amphoe will change nothing and neither should you. However, if you believe an error exists then discuss that with the Amphoe staff but you will need the assistance of a competent translator.

They will not put your passport number on it. The other number is you wifes ID number. Your Kor Ror 3 marriage certificate will not have anything done to it.
