Passengers from Sapporo asked to report to health officials

Thailand’s Disease Control Department has stepped up efforts to locate some of the passengers who travelled on flight XJ621, from Japan’s Sapporo to Bangkok, on February 20th, because 2 of their fellow passengers are now confirmed infected with the COVID-19 virus. It is important that the passengers make contact as soon as possible, so they can be advised of important actions they need to take.

According to the department, passengers on Thai Air Asia’s flight XJ621 from Sapporo who were seated in rows 37, 38, 39, 40 and 41, and who have not yet sought medical advice from a suitably qualified doctor, need to call 096-750-7657 and isolate themselves to avoid contact with other people, including family members, for 14 days.

Those who do not yet have any flu-like symptoms need not see a doctor, but should remain in isolation, said the department.

But we were told that everything was under control ? And no need to close the borders ?

What ? Wait a minute... You mean Infected people can travel from a point A to a point B with an airplane ?

Really ?

This modern world and those technologies are amazing ! ????

And the best part is : the flight was february 20... It's good to start to communicate on... march 1...

11 days... Bravo.  Efficient.

So gentlemen, what do we do now ? We ban flights from Sapporo ? Or from all Japan ?

????

Hard dilemna....

What about row 42 and 43

Not to mention all the check in cues or immigration cues

Plus where they have been in the prior 2 weeks

Got to think 1000s of contacts per day

From the linked article:

"Public health officials are extremely frustrated by the attempt, by one of the elderly pair, to deliberately mislead the medics about their recent return from Japan when first checking into a private hospital for treatment.  It was later confirmed that the person is infected with COVID-19"

This was he:
https://www.thailandmedical.news/news/thailand-coronavirus-updates-3-new-cases-reported-including-one-thai-who-lied-about-visiting-japan-and-possibly-has-infected-an-entire-hospital

"He visited the hospital after developing fever and cough on Sunday (edit: 23rd) and denied to staff that he had travelled anywhere in the last month but subsequently admitted the next day that he had travelled to Japan, after having more than 30 hospital staff exposed. He was tested positive for the coronavirus that day itself."

Nobody knew that he had been on that flight until the 24th.

"The Nation" reported, on the 26th, :

"Thai AirAsia X  has ordered the cabin crew arriving back in Thailand on the same flight (XJ621, Sapporo - Bangkok) as an elderly man, who was later tested for Covid-19 infection, to take 14 days off and notify the Department of Disease Control for surveillance and health eximination."

"Other passengers on the same flight have also been notified, it said."

Obviously they have not been able to reach some of the passengers, or some passengers have not yet acted upon the advice they received.

But safe to say that efforts to "communicate" were, probably, started on the 24th, but 25th at the latest.

And what about those passengers in other rows who may have coughed, sneezed or f a r t e d on the way to the toilet?

My wife just told me of her friend who just came back from Taiwan where he worked for a few years under contract.

Not only he did not self quarantine, he is running all over the place , visiting relatives and eating at restaurants. If he is infected he is infecting others and they themselves are infecting others. And even if he is not infected  , others that are infected are doing the same thing.

Unless this "high temperature not being good for the virus" thing is true, Thailand is in for a rough ride very soon.

Time to buckle up, although we knew it was just a matter of time in Thailand.

Asymptomatic characteristic of this virus is what I hate about it.

I don't think Sars and Mers had this characteristic.

Way to go Thailand, your on the ball.
