Bella raised almost $14,000 (£11,000) for her bionic 'Hero Arm' (PA)

An 11-year-old Star Wars fan has received an R2-D2 bionic limb and been able to show it off to Luke Skywalker himself.

Bella Tadlock, from Florida, raised almost $14,000 (£11,000) for her bionic “Hero Arm”, created by Bristol-based company Open Bionics, which aims to "turn disabilities into superpowers".

The school girl’s fundraiser caught the eye of Star Wars actor Mark Hamill in November when he retweeted her appeal to his 3.6 million followers.

Now, Bella has became the first person in the US to receive the advanced multi-grip arm in the style of her favourite character, R2-D2.

Nope, surely they meant R2D2.

Just look at the color scheme...... C3PO was golden, not white and blue.

I was thinking more of the shape...   with R2D2, her hands would be gorilla like, dragging along the floor ????

c3po did have a retrofit silver leg... so he 'was' open for change ????
