March 5, 20206 yr I looked at some old threads which recommended Prayap, CMU, AUA, SEE, YMCA but they were quite old threads. Am interested in a class for speaking primarily but also reading. I can't ever foresee the need to write in Thai so will give that a miss. Has anyone had any recent positive experiences, if so please share. Looking for a group or class basis not individual. Thanks.
March 5, 20206 yr where i can see the benefit of learning in a small group with equal level students, there is always You Tube. learn some words and phrases and go to the market / mall / bar to practice and make new friends. ????
March 5, 20206 yr I think your should rethink the idea about reading. Because often you can see how a Thai word is pronounced by looking how it's written. It's impossible to write Thai words in Latin letters is a similar way. There are i.e. several versions of the letter A. A short A, a long A, an A in the middle of a syllable. And that is the case with many Thai letters. Maybe buy some Thai alphabet cards and try. Worst case you wasted maybe 100B.

In principle that is obviously a good idea. But it seems many Thais don't speak "real" Thai. Obviously it's nice to be able to communicate with pretty bar girls from Buriram. But if you use that version of Thai with other Thais they wont take long to realize where you learned the language.
