webfact
Gas explosion blows up virus shuttered hotel - someone forgot to turn off the gas Picture: 77kaoded Police and rescue services were called to an eight story hotel in Samut Prakan last night after a huge gas explosion ripped through a restaurant and lobby on the ground floor. The hotel in Soi Nawamin 4, Bang Bo, had been shut for two months because it catered solely to Chinese people and was shut after the coronavirus outbreak. One staff member - one of two who were looking after the building - suffered a hand injury. Wuthichai, 43, was taken to hospital with ruptured tendons. The violent explosion around 11.30 pm brought the ground floor ceiling and windows crashing down. Picture: 77kaoded Wuthichai has smelled gas and went to investigate. Police think he unwittingly set off the explosion by creating a spark. They think that someone had forgotten to turn off the gas when the building was shuttered leading to a build up in the kitchen and pipes. Investigations continue. Bangkok Barry
To mis-quote the immortal words of Crocodile Dundee, That's not a gas explosion. THIS is a gas explosion. Edited March 10, 2020 by Bangkok Barry

Closed for two months - no income - great time to destroy it and collect insurance!
Sydebolle
Must have been an excellent gas filling in that particular gas tank/bottle - lasting two months until everything went up with a big bang. The insurers will be delighted; all other insurers might want to get ready for similar misfortunes happening anytime soon?

I doubt a proper investigation will be done
