PM unperturbed by call for Democrat to pull out of coalition

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has shrugged off the calls, by some members for the Democrat party, to pull the party out of the government coalition, saying “Let them pull out.”

He quickly added, however, that the party has not pulled out yet, when asked by reporters today what he would if they did.

Dissident members of the Democrat party have demanded that the party quit the coalition after a close aide of Deputy Agriculture Minister Thammanat Prompao became implicated in the hoarding of 200 million face masks. One even equated the party’s presence in the government to “Paddling a boat for bandits”.

He may be a bit dim but he knows full well the Dems wont pull out as they are unelectable themselves and would never be included in any opposition coalition. There only chance of getting ministries and loot is through siding with the army. They know it, i know it, general public know it, even Prayuth probably realizes it.

They are just trying to barter for more positions of power in the Government.

Even some staunch royalists are criticising this lot. You know you've hit rock bottom when people with no morals are questioning your morals.

"Thammanat, meanwhile, told the media today that he expects the mask controversy to be cleared up by the police this week"

Democrats to hold meeting to discuss party's future

The Democrat Party might hold a meeting to discuss its future, party leader Jurin Laksanawisit said. Rumours started doing the rounds after a snapshot of the party’s Line group chat was leaked showing some party members wanting to resign from the coalition government.

Jurin said that the Democrat Party abided by the principle of democracy.

The majority of party members chose to form the coalition government with Phalang Pracharat Party and some disagreed but it also was their right.

In response to a query by reporters, he said that it was possible for the Democrats to discuss the matter of continuing in the government at the party’s meeting.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, meanwhile, showed no concern about the rumours, saying the Democrat Party could resign from the government if they wanted to.

The government is now facing a crisis of confidence due to the state of the economy and the hoarding of face masks by people associated with the government.

It doesn't matter. Like it or not he's here to stay. Get used to it.

By supporting a non-democratic government

"If we loose the majority, so what! We just call our tanks as we did so many times before. Farang do not understand Thai style democrazy!"

I believe, have for many years, most politicians all around the world are either inept, criminal, unpatriotic or all three.   So, even before I moved to Thailand to live I had em pegged and didn't even know it!  But, and it's a big but, if a movement started and gained strength enough to  overthrow the pretenders...would it be less corrupt?   Or would it maintain the status quo?

Democrats don't have big enough chimichangas to pull out. And they would first need the Junta government to pull their shaft out of the Democrat's rear-end to become detached.

Why should he be troubled? It is still the military government that can change the rules as it wishes.

He never have REAL majority to govern.

They won 87/500 place.

Give themself 250.

Use three month bully other to join who PROMISED before election will NOT join.

Invent new system to give themself more free place. Peau Thai (who really win) get no free seat.

They disqualify the other red shirt party with “sister”.

Vote buy.

= if the Democrat pull, he still will not go. Will change the rule again.

He say many time before election he not want be PM. But give himself 250 free place? Ppffft

Exactly. You don't spend 6yrs stacking the deck to worry about what a bunch of spineless rectum eaters do. Also we remember Thaworn Senneam fighting to join the coalition and then got his DTM position. He's not going to give that up no matter how many members vote to leave.

The Prime Minister is not the ultimate power in Thailand....and his military coup replacement is much, much, worse.

Be careful what you wish for.

One finds "farangs" a mere annoyance.

The other hates them with a loathing and a passion.
