China funds more than 3,000 km of roads in Cambodia

Featured Replies

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen said China has financed the construction of more than 3,000 kilometres of roads in the Kingdom. The figure was shared at the inauguration ceremony of National Road No. 55 with a total length of 182.16 kilometres and the groundbreaking for the construction of National Road No. 10 with a total length of 198.71 kilometres, held in Veal Veng district, Pursat province this morning.

Mr Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to China for its support for the physical infrastructure development in Cambodia. According to Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, the construction of National Road No. 55 linking Pursat provincial city to Thmar Da, at the border with Thailand, cost some US$132.80 million funded by China and the national budget of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

The road was constructed by China Road and Bridge Corporation under technical control of Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Co., Ltd., and these companies are also in charge of the construction of National Road No. 10 linking from Samlot in Battambang province to Koh Kong province with an estimated cost of US$188.38 million for an expected duration of 48 months, starting in December 2019.

Just another province of China , Phils being sold out by Durty Duterte and Laos , then Thailand...

Its unfortunate to see such an interesting place like Cambodia get sold out like this. Here in Siem Reap its a world UNESCO sight so its pretty international but the remiander of the country from the port to the rural areas with its Chinese rice mills is no doubt getting taken over.

Linking all Xi Jingpins business interests, supplies in, products out.

When he has the full economy in his control Hun Sen will go exile himself somewhere and Cambodia will be flying a different flag!

China needs those roads to be able to transport military assets quickly.

Since China imports Chinese laborers for Belt & Road construction, they are welcome to find all those Chinese landmines they freely gifted to the Khmer Rouge and Hun Sen factions over the decades and which are still present throughout the countryside.

why sold?

nobody cared about cambodia, nobody wanted to invest,

so the chinese are doing it, they should be thanked for doing that.

no other western or even rich asian country even considered investing in cambodia

and really build there something. so let's salute the chinese for caring and acting.

seriously.

military assets where ? to thailand?

and than what? to get foot massage?

they are getting it anyway for allmost free, so no, no war.

what the chinese want is what the cambodians want - prosperity in piece (PP).

SO they should be appriciated to care and build , in a country

with great potential that was unfortunately destroyed by horrible regime.

Bollllox! They don't care. They do it for their own ends. If they weren't going to get something out of it, they would stick to building in their own country.
