No joke, my daughter wants a place to practice her dance while she spends her summer in-country. Anybody have a e-mail or phone or address for Chiang Mai Ballet Academy or other dance studio that caters to young women?

I believe there is a Ballet Academy on the side road just before Le Coq d'Or (same side) in Nong Hoi, not sure what it's all about, just saw the name plate on the gate. Looks active. Also there is a recently opened Dance School on Chiang Mai Land off Chang Klang Road. Just on the right as you turn into Chiang Mai Land. Hope you find what you're looking for...good luck.

Cm Ballet Academy is in the Central Dep Store complex and along the river near the Indian consulate (near Wat Faham), it is in a residential area, east side of the road, you drive in thru a fancy gate then about 100-200 meters inside.

Another branch of the CM Ballet Academy is located behind the CMU art museum on nimanheimen road. Lots of fun.

Sangdao Performing Arts School (โรงเรียนนาฏศิลป์แสงดาว เชียงใหม่) is a new dance school in Chiang Mai with an international standard. S.P.A.S. is a merge between two well-known dance schools in Thailand (Aree Dance Arts and Pornpimol Sophatai Dance School). About the directors:

Sophatai Kanthatham A.R.A.D. Advanced, has studied dance with her mother, Pornpimol Kanthatham, other well-known teachers in Thailand and in the USA before engaging a full-time dance education at the Arts Educational London Schools. Then Sophatai received a scholarship to proceed her dance studies in Lyon, France at the Conservatoire Nationale Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon. She was engaged as a professional dancer with several dance companies in Germany and the Netherlands. Sophatai has taught in numerous schools in the Netherlands and Thailand. She's also a co-founder of Child in Motion Foundation, a foundation which helps develop underprivileged children through performing arts.

Glenn van der Hoff MA. (Performing arts), The Netherlands. Glenn has been working in the field of performing arts with many different dance companies and dance schools around the world for over 30 years as an independent theatre producer, director, choreographer and teacher . He is one of the founders of the well-known Djazzex Dance Company in the Netherlands. He's also a co-founder of Child in Motion Foundation.
