Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was at Rajavithi Hospital in Bangkok on Thursday (March 12) checking on measures put in place to safeguard the public against the Covid-19 virus.

Deputy Public Health Minister Sathit Pitutecha and Dr Sukhum Kanchanapimai, the ministry’s permanent secretary, were by his side.

Prayut inspected the thermo-scan checkpoint and participated in the hospital’s daily 3pm physical exercises.

He was next taken to an examination room dedicated to acute respiratory infection and handed gift baskets to patients, visiting relatives, doctors and nurses.

He also unveiled Favilavir antiviral drugs that the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation had purchased from the Japanese government.

They’re to be used at all state hospitals and medical schools in Bangkok.

Prayut was then briefed on the progress of a cocktail of anti-viral drugs that the hospital is developing, and had a look at patient rooms via CCTV.
