If you read your own quote, the Gates foundation provided financial backing in 2015 and 2018 for Malaria and Influenza research.

I understand that.  I'm talking about this German company having received financial assistance from a US foundation...hence, US connection.

Welove..etc......... I really don't want to get into a silly Trump argument, that seems to go on forever ...I'm not even American. I was just pointing out that it has not been confirmed by the German government--as usual they have just said Sources......... "German government sources"-...who in government??

The only person quoted directly is the company that is making the product and they deny there is any such takeover---they have their own webb site if you care to visit....or you can go with Welt am Sonntag   and their unnamed sources. A German newspaper , which is the equivalent of the Daily Mirror ...My rant is that I hate this sort of rubbish tabloid reporting --If the American president is in the wrong --so be it, maybe someone would actually put there name to saying it.

Or you can go with this:

Germany tries to stop US from luring away firm seeking coronavirus vaccine

BERLIN, March 15 (Reuters) - Berlin is trying to stop Washington from persuading a German company seeking a coronavirus vaccine to move its research to the United States, prompting German politicians to insist no country should have a monopoly on any future vaccine.

Germany’s Health Ministry confirmed a report in newspaper Welt am Sonntag, which said President Donald Trump had offered funds to lure the company CureVac to the United States, and the German government was making counter-offers to tempt it to stay...

Contacted by Reuters, a spokeswoman for the German Health Ministry said: “We confirm the report in the Welt am Sonntag.”

I told you two times already what Mr. Hopp and Mr. Hettich said. I will not put it here a third time just for you to ignore it again in your desperate attempts to cover the dirty tricks of The Chaos Family.

Why does the US want this vaccine so badly?  Just remember that Trump is a tool of the 1%ers.  Almost everything he does or says is either a brain-fart, a dog-whistle or a replay of a conversation he had at Mar-Al-Lago.

Covid-19 started as a local (Wuhan) epidemic.  Now is has spread widely enough to be called a pandemic.  The next stage will be when it becomes endemic.  The US drug companies are looking forward to the 3rd stage.  They aren't stupid and greedy enough to try to profitize a vaccine at this time, but they are looking at the future, when there will be periodic outbreaks of Covid-19 and people will want to be vaccinated, just as people are vaccinated for the flu now.  After the Pandemic has peaked and there are just periodic outbreaks, the company that controls the vaccine could make HUGE profits on an ongoing basis. The Europeans are well aware of the US model of commercializing medicine and want to stop it in its tracks.

He is an absolute clown.

This should also be read in the light of the USA being offered the German standard testing protocol that is being used by many countries. The USA refused and wanted to develop their own instead of piggy-backing on an existing one that was effective. They did develop their own test but it was beset with problems and wasted a huge amount of time. This led to delays in manufacturing and also a supply chain problem with one of the components. Hence the shortage of tests.

Now they want to do exactly what they say China does - steal another country's technology.

A very  common factor in even accepting funding for research often is conditional on Intellectual Property Rights being accorded to the funder regardless of country of origin. As a result of lot of  R&D done in Universities by  "paying" students who have no rights to anything other than short lived congratulations, the University gains educational credibility  while Corporate sponsors uplift the  property rights and profit from patents as quickly as possible.

Or  not.

If in the case of pharmaceuticals medicines to treat lifelong symptoms of curable disease that makes millions in profit there is no corporate ethical cause to offer a known cure unless at extortionist cost.

Vaccines against lethal or crippling diseases should be declared a right of the public domain. Not an economic weapon.

We want it all. 100%. No, we do not want to share it. America first. Give it all to us. I need the votes. Give it to us, and make it happen fast, and I will pay you a fortune for it. Just make it so!

555555....Trump has been known for overpaying which is why he's been bankrupt so many times.  But if Trump had the opportunity to overpay with OUR MONEY so he can be reelected, it would be a no-brainer.  Heck he's already doing it with these corporate tax cuts, QE, bailout for farmers, Trump Foundation/inauguration, etc....not to mention paying himself so he can play golf on his courses.

The price for it would be set so high , that hardly anybody could afford it .

I know what I am talking about , a few yrs ago I needed a newly developed med ( Gilead ) , but the price for a treatment was set at 186000 $ ! I had to wait a few years until I could buy it from India for 1500 $ .

I would rather North Korea have it than the Yanks... and yes, absolutely. Such as Iran would be well and truly screwed if you lot were in control of the vaccine.

Sorry man, but China has sent not only blood plasma, medication used to treat patients in Wuhan, respirators and millions of masks to Italy but a large number of their doctors who treated patients in their hot spots as well. I know they have sent similar "packages" to other badly affected countries as well. So if anything, China isn't capitalising but rather offering help to others. On the other hand I remember my former country collecting money for a few years old kid, to receive a shot of medicine in US, which cost over 4 million USD. To a parent, that might be worth it. To an outsider, no single shot of medicine is worth that much. And I can only imagine how US would have used monopoly on medication/vaccines. About the same it uses monopoly on the financial systems like SWIFT. By cutting off anyone it doesn't like. So I apologise, but this time I disagree with you.

So I wonder what comes next, sanctions against Germany or a pre-emptive strike?   The biggest shock of course will be the excuse for the action....theyre always a big laugh!

China would have helped others - the rest of the world - more if they had not covered the outbreak for over a month just the save their bloody face.

These weeks would have done more than a couple of plasma bottles now and their conspiracy theories that the virus was invented by the evil empire US.

Don't try to turn the argument around. The first conspiracy theories about this originated, as usual, in the US about biological warfare from China.

The re4st of your post does not provide an argument at all that China's help now is not welcome.

This is a convenient excuse for countries that response to the virus late and not having adequate health system to monitor and prepare for any emergency. The leaders of these countries should be taken to task for their failings to protect their citizens. Singapore and Hong Kong are worthy of praise for their prompt policy response and comprehensive health care infrastructure. They have low infections and no death.

Wow. Truly a sad reading of politics, life and history.

Looks like chinese disinformation, bots and propaganda are working. Its OK, folks supported Germany in 1933 too.

This is not an excuse. It is fact that China covered the outbreak for weeks. If reported earlier the rest of the world coud have acted earlier. Simple logic.

And there's not only Singapore and Hongkong doing a fabulous job. Don't forget the maybe most successful, the Taiwanees.

Right.

And Dietmar Hopp, the former "owner" of SAP who is the main investor of CureVac is a philantropist. He would never agree giving a vaccine to one country only.

Although he did meet Trump, Pence and Gates (who is one of his biggest backers) just last month...

So much have been discussed about this on hindsight. Not finding excuse for the Chinese authority that they too was caught off guard with a novel virus in December and their scientists were trying to identify the virus. Subsequently the Wuhan seafood market was shutdown on 1 January. By early January the scientists announced the discovery of a new Coronavirus and confirmed by WHO on 9 January. I think the world has been adequately informed and some Asia countries immediately announced travel restrictions and lockdowns while some countries dropped the ball and were too slow to respond and now found themselves with a surging pandemic.

No its actually a correct observation reading some of the posts and analyzing them in conjuction with Chinese propaganda and disnfirmation tactics and then comparing it to the 1933 era...but hey, if that particular scneario is an "insult", look up the NY Times and the Ukrainian famine, a far more acceptable murderous regime.
