MCOT Plc said on Monday (March 16) that the company will shut down its FM99 radio station for 14 days after a guest host reported being infected with the new coronavirus (Covid-19).

MCOT president Khematat Pholdet said: “The guest host is not an MCOT employee and the person visited the station at 10pm on March 11 and 12,” he said. “There are 45 persons who made contact with the host and/or used the room during that period. They were all ordered to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.”

“MCOT has cleaned all rooms, equipment and surrounding areas since Saturday (March 14),” he added. “Furthermore, I have ordered other radio stations to reduce the number of live hosts to only 1-2 persons at a time, or use a phone-in approach instead of inviting guests to the station.”

Other events or activities that involve gatherings of large group of people at the company will be cancelled or postponed, he added.

Khetmala added that since March 16, the company had also switched from finger scanning to contactless card to record staff attendance.

“MCOT has bought Covid-19 insurance for all employees, whereas those who tested positive will be entitled to Bt100,000 compensation on top of standard health insurance benefits,” he added.

Spreaders popping up everywhere now.

That's the nature of the beast. It festers for a while and then suddenly it's everywhere. It's why they are called outbreaks. Same thing happened in Italy and China.

So this guest who spread the virus, contacted it how? Was he or she a traveller

who went to a virus hot spot?  Careless radio station procedures for sure, by

not checking people, now more are at risk.

Geezer
