Hi.

Was going to apply for O-A visa in nyc. Have all paper completed. Departure date April 20th.

Thai Consulate of New York will be closed until April 1st.

Los Angeles, Washington and Chicago are probably closed also.

Not sure (when they open) will they be granting O-A visas.

TC,

And not a word on the website???

how did you become aware of this?

Total assumption on my part but since LA has the largest Thai expat community in the world, I'd guess that if there were to be only one Thai consulate open in the US it would be the one in LA.

Hi ubonjoe.

Below (in bold) is a snippet of the email reply I received from the Washington Thai Consulate today.

Due to the situation of Coronavirus, we will close for walk-in from March 23, 2020.
We encourage visa applicants to mail in the documents from today on”.

My question would be, will they still have a staff arriving and working daily but will be closed to the public. Or does the staff stays home, then mailed visa will just remain in their Outbox  till the office reopens correct?

It appears their will still be people working at the embassy to process visa applications and etc.

I think they are just reducing their exposure to those doing visa applications and etc.
