Any Changes In Savannakhet

Recommended Posts

No reports of any changes. No need for a medical certificate.

Thing of course are fluid at the moment so things can change at the border crossings. As of now there are no restrictions on entering Laos or returning from there.

The government announced all the land borders closed till further notice.

I have seen no such announcement. There have been reports of some crossing being closed.

It does not matter now really since you will need a Lao visa to enter Laos. No visa on arrival or e visa is available.

Thing change so fast that is hard to keep up with everything.

It seems that Laos not let the IATA or airlines about the restrictions. Laos is not even mentioned on this list of countries.https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/international-travel-document-news/1580226297.htm

Went to S-Ket on 17 March.  Was refused O visa (marriage to Thai) due to travel to Singapore.  Wife and I returned from Singapore on 18 February.  Reason for refusal was no documentation of self quarantine and also needed a health certificate due to our travel to Singapore.  Neither were a requirement when we returned from Singapore, self quarantine was a recommendation which we did.  Asked more detail on the certificates was only told we had to get them from the "government" in our province.   Many people were being refused and left with their papers in hand. We went back to Thailand immediately.  Filled out a TM.8 and was screened by nurses at the Thai border and granted entry.

Entering Laos is now not an option. No visas for tourists are available now.

"LAO PEOPLE'S DEM. REP. – published 21.02.2020

1. Issuance of tourist visas, e-visas and visas on arrival has been suspended.

2. Visa exemptions for passengers with a normal passport are suspended.

3. Passengers traveling for non-touristic purposes must obtain a visa and approval prior to arrival."
