Visa extension and new visa question

Featured Replies

Hello people, quick couple of questions if I may ????

I'm British and came to Thailand on a single entry non-o, I extended this by 60 days for staying with my wife and this stamp expires 18/04.

My question is this. Can I go to the immigration office and get a new non-o visa (single use/entry is fine)?

If yes then what do I need to take to get this done as quickly as possible?

I wouldn't normally consider this option but would prefer not to leave the country if I don't have to the way things are right now.

If I can't get a new non-o in Thailand then what is the quickest/best way to get one in a nearby Country without any problems, what will I need to take and how long does it take?

Sorry for all the questions but all this COVID-19 $**t has really messed up the way I usually do things ????

Thanks in advance for any help and advise you can offer ????

Visas can only be obtained outside of Thailand. There is the option to convert a Visa Exempt or Tourist Visa Entry to a Non-Imm-O Entry within Thailand but you would need to leave the country.

A 12 month marriage extension is perhaps an option?

Have you considered an agent?

you would need the same financial requirements as applying for a yearly extension, that's even if they will do it as you already hold an 'O' visa.

your only option if no 400,000thb in the bank would be a quick trip now to Savannakhet to obtain a multi entry non imm 'O' visa

savannakhet requires an overnight stay, apply mon collect tues, apply fri collect mon, i would do asap as the border could close at any time

@jacko45k Thanks for that, I thought that was the case but thought they may have made it a little easier for those of us already here and spending money????

@steve187 Thanks for the advise ????

Could you point me in the direction of some information about the Savannakhet route and what information, copies and payment they need please?

Also has anyone been to Savannakhet to do this recently and can share their experience with times, queues etc?

I normally get my Visa from the UK but really don't want to go there (or anywhere) the way things are at the moment ????

If you are in Pattaya, there are agents that can help but costs about 23k....and you would need a bank account in your name, funds irrelevent

How does this work?

Is it legal?

How long does it take?

Is it a one year visa?

Sorry for all the questions but further information would be appreciated ????

corrupt official taking a backhander from parasite agent is how it works ... and no its not legal but I doubt you would have a problem.

Personally not a fan of agents because it just makes life harder for the rest of us but I understand why people use them.

Getting into Laos now could be a problem. They have stopped doing visas on arrival and visa exempt entries so it will require applying for a Lao visa now.

Thanks ubonjoe I was going to drive up there on Sunday to deal with this on Monday, is there anywhere I can check the current situation regarding getting into Laos and back into Thailand again?

If I can't do that then paying an agent may well be my only option, don't like doing it but needs must ????
