Cambodia’s embassy in Thailand has advised all Cambodian citizens who are here now to remain here for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis to safeguard their homeland.

The Cambodian Labour Ministry said there are two million Cambodians working in Thailand both legally and illegally and asked them to adhere to preventive measures and, should they wish to return home soon, consider the move carefully.

Dy Thehoya of the Centre for Alliance of Labour and Human Rights (Central), which looks after Cambodian workers, agreed with the embassy’s announcement and said it would lower the risk of contagion in both countries.

He pointed out that anyone returning home could have difficulty coming back to Thailand to work, since they would be quarantined for 14 days.

This is a sensible decision.

We will never beat this thing until we all stay in one district, which is why I am chastising the decision to sent 6'000 working girls back to the village with closures of all bars.

Just spreading it far & wide

6000?  <laughs>

As most of them loose their work, no income. How stay and survive in Thailand and  this situation will last many weeks and not the 14days as many think and the government give the feeling to everyone!

Looking forward to my village getting its share.

...there appears to be a paucity of accurate medical data out there. Plenty of fear mongering.

Great news - thank you Mr Hun Sen! Close the border completely with Thailand and let the hysteria in LOS get worse!

Or Cambodia doesn't want 2 million coming home for obvious reasons, and not just about Corvid 19?
