All Thailand’s provincial governors have been told to file daily reports, on the enforcement of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, to the Committee Managing the COVID-19 Situation, headed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The Prime Minister said today that provincial governors have been empowered to close entertainment venues, as they think appropriate in order to stem the virus outbreak, adding that the governor of Ubon Ratchathani, which adjoins the Lao PDR, has already ordered the closure of the border.

He warned that, since governors now have full authority to implement protective measures, to monitor people in quarantine and to screen new arrivals at provincial international airports, they must enforce the measures strictly or face being transferred.

"The Opposition’s call for the opening of an extraordinary parliamentary session, to enable MPs to discuss the COVID-19 situation, has been dismissed by the Government"

This stops any attempt by the opposition, to criticize the Government for any measures they have taken, or failed to take, in order to stop the spreading of the virus.

I still can't see the reasoning in allowing restaurants (or the B.T.S. and malls) to stay open, if social distancing is to be achieved,

Wow this guy means business

Jail time for selling a few masks but an inactive post for allowing thousands to get infected from laziness and gross misconduct

Now if the above had continued...'of all their bank account balances to my bank account', you can bet everything would run like clockwork.

Ha ha, yes! Senile delinquents.

Transfered to go not do your job somewhere else and still be over paid for it!????

Do not mock them! They each have THE pink spot. Do you have one?

Yes what's with the pink spot, is that rainbow solidarity or to help snipe

Mister P follows the textbook of his handler.

Xi Jingping.

Xi said exactly the same in China. "blablabla or face.... your fate" (of course in China, they do not transfert... they terminate... it's more efficient).

So Mister P is excited. At last, he can mimic his heroe... but without the flesh on the bones.

Everybody is laughing. Nobody will be "transfered". And nobody will be punished.

This sounds like he means business. That's fine.

Now why don't you task governors in the same way to report on what they did each day to curb air pollution in their jurisdiction? How many perpetrators of fires were caught and how were they dealt with? What new measures have been put into place? How many men do you have working on the problem daily? etc.

THIS is exactly what is required to deal with national problems. So why haven't you instigated this yet Mr P? Tread on too many toes would we?

The CNX Governor is ineffective he should be the first to be transferred. AQI is above 200 most days, no masks or hand gel to be found in the pharmacies. Also there are very few confirmed cases of CV19 in Chiang Mai which is very dubious.

Following the PM's latest edict, the province Governors will deliberately hide all the true numbers of virus cases for fear of being chastised by Prayut.

In the full story apparently

'if the opposition has any recommendations, they could submit them to the Government through other channels, such as Facebook, Line or normal postal services.'

My wife uses Line as many other Thais do. It seems to be communication through the medium of cartoons.

just about sums it up

100% under control still then, what a clown and an ineffective one ????

would be fun if all those OLD elite power grabbers got it and got rid of them

what a FUTURE to look FORWARD too

Fred Karno seems to have forgotten the air quality problems. How about telling the "governors" to get a grip with that. 325 in Chiang Mai this morning.

The infamous loop-hole.

I'm surprised on how he wears his mask on several pictures taken this week. Barely covering his nostrils?

what the hell has he got on his face?!

Does this mean that it's up to each governor to decide what they think is 'appropriate'?

It seems no national policy of what's allowed or not. It raises more questions than it answers:

If I go to a shop and buy some beer to take home is that OK? If I sit outside the same shop and drink the beer is that allowed?

Can a small bar/restaurant open, catering to, say half dozen people?

Is a bicycle shop allowed to open if it has a lot of customers?

I saw yesterday a food court was practising 'social distancing' by separating the tables from each other.

IIRC hasn't Trump banned gatherings of more than 50(?) people. What about here in Thailand, I take it there's not a number?
