Ex-deputy commerce minister Banyin sentenced to eight years in prison

Former Deputy Commerce minister Banyin Tangpakorn was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday, after the Bangkok South Criminal Court found him guilty of falsifying documents and using them in the transfer of about 300 million baht in shares from a property developer to him and his two accomplices, Ms. Kanthana “Namtarn” and Ms. Oracha “Ponkhao” Wachirakunthon, who were sentenced to four years.

Ms. Oracha’s mother, however, was acquitted by the court, saying it believed that she knew nothing about the illegal share transfer and opened a bank account, involved in the illegal transaction, in good faith.

The developer, Mr. Chuwong sae Tang, died in suspicious circumstances in 2015 when a car, in which he and Banyin were travelling, was involved in an accident.

After his death, Chuwong’s family discovered that the 300 million baht in shares had been transferred to Banyin and the two young women.

8 years for killing someone and then stealing all their money.

Selling face masks over price and you get around 4 years it was, I believe.

Seems fair and balanced - Not!

Ahh... but this sentence apparently wasn't for actually killing the guy, which he allegedly did as well. This sentence appears to just be for having fraudulently stolen money from the guy once he was dead!

What's happened to the case involving the guy's death itself?

Maybe you should read more.. the murder trial is still going on this is the fraud part.

So funny that ministers from all sides (except FFW) seem to include murderers and or drug kingpins or other scum. No wonder Thais have little faith in voiting. No matter what side you vote for you scum.

Unless he confesses he'll skate on the murder charge.

His first wife also died, ages ago, under eerily similar "circumstances".

Fore.

This was the staged car crash, Yes?

How many of the current government will face charges when they are thrown out of office? Should be almost 100%.

I sure wouldn't want to be going into a Thai prison at this moment.

Even a one month sentence could be a death sentence.

Yes, and several more items ...

Very arrogant man, happy to see him jailed.
