Is Savannakhet still open for SETVs?

Anyone have UP-TO-DATE info on this?

Went there yesterday. Only Non-O visas being processed. Everyone else was being turned away.

I am in Savannakhet now staying at Sala Thongyon Garden Bungalows.. Very quiet here as there are only 3 others. Those who are working in Thailand or married to a Thai national are getting visas with the proper paperwork. People looking for a tourist visa are being turned away. If you just need to cross the border and get a visa upon entry you can if you spend an evening here in Savannakhet. You must first go to the hospital here and get documents from a doctor saying you do not have a fever and your lungs are clear.

My B visa ends at the end of April.....I was hoping to get an extra month to sort out affairs.

If they are still allowing visa-less entries then, that 30 days would be good enough. Of course things could change by then.

However, I would have thought that people just doing a turnaround at the border is not an aggregate threat to Thailand's health.

This could be interesting. You would hope that they would not deny entry to someone who is a resident of Thailand who has simply gone there to renew their visa........note I say hope.

Any update on the Savannakhet border? Is it open or closed?

Closed for everybody but Laotians and legal residents of Laos.
