Do you need health insurance to extend VOA?

Recommended Posts

Maybe my plan will go up in smoke and I'll need to stay in Thailand another month until things settle.

I know anyone new coming in needs health insurance and a COVID-19 doctor certificate.

But do you need those to extend VOA by 30 days at immigration?

Thanks!

A 15 day visa on arrival entry cannot normally be extended other than 7 days to leave the country.

Or do you mean a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days.

There is no requirement for insurance to get an extension. Also no medical certificate.

Thanks Ubonjoe, for me I have a 30 day visa exempt as a Canadian passport holder.

No problem to get the 30 day extension. If needed you can now get another one after the first one,

That's amazing news! I'm from UK so have 30 day visa exempt + no insurance.

@ubonjoe I don't know if I'm understanding you correctly, but are you saying you can extend the exempt entry 2X?

So,

Arrive = 30 days

Extend once = 30 days

Extend again = 30 days

You qualify for a 30 day visa exempt entry not a 15 day visa on arrival.

You can apply for more than one 30 day extension of your visa exempt entry.

I'm sorry for the hassle, I think I'm confusing you and myself lol

Let's just say I came in through Mai Sai on the 25th Feb and my entry lasted to the 25th March.

Now I can apply for an extra 30 days to make it roughly 60 days in total.

I'm just wondering if you're trying to say because of the COVID-19 problems I could potentially extend it again so it would equal roughly 90 days in total?

1 x coming in through Mai Sai + 2 x extensions.

That is possible now.
