renewing a tourist visa

Featured Replies

i returned to bangkok from siem reap in early march  and my 30 day visa is set to expire on 2nd of april

Under normal circumstances i would normally return to malaysia were i am due to fly out of back to europe on april 14th but due to the malaysian border now being closed it looks like this will not be possible and it seems i will have to obtain a 30 day visa in bangkok then await the malayssian government to reopen their borders

Early next week i will first have to apprroach the uk government embassy in bangkok for a letter to show to the malayssian immigration department and thus hopefully obtain a 30 days extension visa for 1,900baht

can anyone further advise on any protocol i need to follow

Seems it will be your first extension so no need for an embassy letter just a trip to local immigration to extend by 30 days 1900bht

Fourpack is correct.

Just attend immigration.

You need tm7 form.

Photocopy pp info page and entry stamp and photo. Tm6 copy.

1900 baht.= 30 day.

You can get the TM7 form at the immigration office. You could also download and fill it in before your visit. TM6 is your departure card that you (should) have in your passport, you'll need a copy of it.

At Bangkok's regular immigration office (Chaeng Watthana), you can have photos made in the basement. As extensions for tourists are currently processed at a temporary office elsewhere, however, I don't know if the same is possible there. Hopefully someone who has been there will let you know.

searched high and low but dont seem to have the immigration form i presented when arriving at don muang (bangkok) airport from siem reap on march 9th though there is a clear stamp in my passport of my march 9th arrival and a clear stamp of my expected departure date of april 7th.....when i go to the thai immigration to renew my 30 day tourist visa should not having my blue and white arrival card present much of a problem?

Go well in time .Saw a video on Youtube by Italian blogger Micheie Ponte last week .There was 5000 tourists on the day at immigration in Bangkok all trying to do the same .They only had Q numbers for 3000 .He returned next day early again and got it but it took the whole day.

April 6th is a public holiday and immigration will be closed.

Best to go this week and get it done.

Immigration will give you a new the TM6 card but they may ask for a police report for it being lost before issuing it. Since you have time you should go to a police station and do the report in case they want it.

For the one 4 X 6 cm photo you need for TM7 form look for a shop that is open or a photo booth that you will see at some places.

i appproached the "new" police station near koh sarn rd earlier today(monday)in the hope of getting a replacement tm6 form but was mainly encountering what looked like teenagers filling out the numbers in the police station who didnt have a xclue what a tm6 card was or how to obtain a replacement

How much importantce should i put on obtaining a tm6 form when i got to thai immigration to obtain a new 30 day tourist visa.....my date of arrival back in thailand(march 9th)is already stamped in my passport as is my expected departure date april 7th

Not having your TM6 form is not a big deal, though the official may be a little irritated. There are many threads on lost TM6 forms.
