Canadian Embassy providing extension request letters as of April 1

Featured Replies

Some welcome news for Canadians, from an email I received this evening (emphasis mine):

VISA EXTENSION REQUESTS
The Government of Canada has advised all Canadians to cancel non-essential travel abroad and for Canadian travellers to consider returning home.  Assisting Canadians attempting to return to Canada remains a top priority for Consular personnel. We recognize, however, that options for return to Canada are rapidly diminishing and that some Canadians are resident abroad on a long-term basis. In this context, the Embassy will, as of April 1, undertake to provide supporting letters for Canadians seeking visa extensions in Thailand. For all such requests, we would kindly ask that you contact the Embassy via email, at [email protected], and not to appear in person.

Thanks CDN Embassy for going the extra mile without being asked to do so.

And for continuing to assist Canadians for their annual retirement extensions with income verifications.

Great to be a Canadian.

Ozzie embassy just did the same

Latest email from the Embassy - they are now offering (repayable) financial assistance for people wanting to fly home.

"FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CANADIANS
For those who may require financial assistance in the form of a repayable loan to travel home, the Government of Canada has announced the creation of the COVID-19 Emergency Loan Program for Canadians Abroad.  Eligible Canadians currently outside Canada who need financial assistance can contact the Embassy of Canada to Thailand by sending an email to [email protected].
For more information regarding eligibility for the loan program, please visit this site:

The CDN Embassy in Bangkok is the friendliest, most helpful and efficiently run agency of any CDN Embassy I have dealt with - and that's a goid many
