Chantal
Am sooo peeeed off! A couple of months ago we booked a Liveaboard cruise to Layang Layang early next month. Yesterday, with less than a month's notice, the operator sent us an email telling us it is cancelled as our booking for 4 people is the only 1 and they need minimum 10 people for the trip to go. No where during our negotiations did they inform us that 10 people were needed for the trip to run. Nice one since we have our flights and accommodation en route booked and paid for already. As far as we are concerned they should reimburse us for these costs. What do you guys think?
smartecosse
you'll be lucky, thats just not the way they work. It'll be like trying to get blood out of a stone. This happens all the time with liveaboards, they pretty much all have a minimum number required b4 the sailing becomes a confirmed one. why not switch the booking to Layang Layang Island Resort instead, assuming they have availability on their flights from KK on the dates that you need. What was the boat anyway?
stevenl
If they did not point it out to you, you're probably in your right. So all you have to do is get your money from them Can't you get some of your guests to join you?
Chantal
Dont want to mention the boat as it is a Phuket based operation and we are still awaiting their reply from management who happens to be an old colleague of ours. But then it is Songkran now so I guess we will hear from them in about a weeks time. In the meantime we will have to jai yen yen.
Chantal
Can't you get some of your guests to join you? Nice thought Steven - but honestly - this is meant to be our first holiday in 10 years. Even we need a break.
adad
You must be talking about Dive Master as they are the only ones that go to Layang2 and Labuan. Don't waste your air tickets, liveaboard is not the only option to dive LL.

Chantal
Update: As of this morning - nope the cruise will definitely not be running due to our group of 4 being the only people booked. We were hoping that they would do some last minute special offer promo work at the Dive Expo's in BKK last week. Som namnaa!!!
