Bye Bye TVF

While I  could  congratulate the TVF site designers is their  battle to overcome the complaints  of  perpetual page  loading  and  jumping issues I now  understand  they /him/her had greater focus on defeating the ogre of  commercial imperatives.

Overall  success in that criteria. Pages  load, eventually. And do indeed  stop. Well.....sort of. Pop up videos , advertorial  banners etc  that sufficient in numbers magically defy blockers to satisfy commercial interest while  destroying much of the  social media attraction of  even  coming  to the site !

Captive  audience ?  NOT  me. I  hope  my  topic is  not relegated  to  some where. I have a screen shot  to  keep for  shared satisfaction  anyway.

What  do   you  think   AnaBan......? Cheers  all . Some of it  was interesting.

TVF follow the thai style of monetization, the more members who don't pay (adblock) the more the remaining have to pay (more ads)

which leads to more members not paying

and on and on and on ...

sad really

I think the issue is when using many smartphones. ON PCs you can do things, but phones are not good. I cannot open TV on my smartphone as the ads destroy the screen, but on both our PCs I have no problems.

Bye

I don’t bother with the TV app any more at all... because of Adverts.

I rarely read TV.com on my phone (using Safari) because of Adverts.

I find adverts a PITA when using Safari on my Laptop, I’ve complained about it in threads before, sometimes the advert ‘pops up’ over / hiding the content.

The solution (advised in the past) has been to use other browsers (which can block the pop ups), but I don’t have to use these ‘other browsers’ (I don’t remember the name of the browser I was advised to use).

I don’t mind the adverts that run down the side of the page - its the ‘invasive’ ads which are plain annoying.

The apps have been discontinued there is a pinned notice to that effect.

Whats the problem?--everything cost money, for free lunch ask comrade Sanders.

Its fine on my phone.

The site never loads correctly on my phone. Pages don't fully resolve in browser. Stuck under it's own weight of bad code and advertising I will never purposely click on.

That video on the landing page with the hand. Prolly been up for months.

The ads are a necessary aggravation for users.  Navigating that delicate balance between commercial interests and keeping those clicks coming is the TVF management's challenge.

If no one ever complained, the ads might just keep being added on top of the content...

I use Adblock Plus which is showing it blocked 31 ads on this page alone. A bit much.

The video popups at the bottom are annoying.

My adblock shows 15 right now

You only need one 'app' - it's called a 'web browser'....also available on phones.

Bye.

No idea why TVF want to ruin this site with too many ads.  Gets unreadable and people don't bother with it.  I have been putting up with the video ads here for a long time.  After reading this thread I tried popup blocker in Chrome and Adblocker in Chrome.  The first one didn't work. The second one did.  No more totally annoying videos in the bottom right part of my laptop screen now.

I must agree the mobile version of TVF is very annoying, jumping all over the place as page loads, full screen ads in between every page load and click... very annoying.

Its better to place ads more effectively...

Ahhhh,  if only getting rid of the annoying pop-ups was as easy as getting rid of Rumak

when he has something uncomplimentary to say.   ( it is rumored that there is a designated

team just for that purpose  ????

ok:   start counting

Forum owners make money from the content generated by members.

Going forward, intrusive ads could be made disappear to those members that have paid their dues with a certain content/reputation count. A doddle for someone with coding experience.
