BringMeSunshine
Does anyone know anything about this place?, 4km South East of Singburi on the Lopburi road (311) picture https://imgur.com/a/5wgozet 14D52'53.8"N, 100D25'08.7"E Google maps lists a "Ban Pho Yen Priests Camp Site" near here, with the thai สำนักวิปัสนาบ้านโพธิ์เย็น , which seems to translate to "Ban Pho Yen Vipassana Institute".https://goo.gl/maps/NyjXkVEugy1GDRkY7 It looks like it has been closed for 5+ years. The main entrance is locked (but you can still sneak in round the back). It has lots of grand features like a 40metre tall 'chedi'; a huge Wat and a sacred lake. It seems strange that such an auspicious (and expensive) place would have been abandoned. What's the story? . Iron Tongue
Don't know why it's empty but it doesn't look abandoned, the trees & shrubs aren't overgrown.
BringMeSunshine
there's someone (??a chancer?) in there 'farming' bananas (there's a network of punctured hosepipes running around the grounds and the soil is wet keeping the banana trees watered. I guess that he also keeps the worst of the weeds cut back).
