April 27, 200719 yr Bettie Serveert. Tuesdays and Fridays I'd wait at the bus stop And guess who won't show up I'm tired of waiting for you Reflections in puddles and rain on their faces How awkward this place is When all seems connected to you You warned me from the first time on But I chose to ignore the things you said Of course it didn't take you long To figure out a way to pull my leg Well, here I stand I don't feel too good Slightly canned I wish you would Untie the knot Untie the knot, then the have Have not Untie the knot You won't have me worried I can still take care of myself somehow You won't have me worried Just have to rethink my thoughts somehow Well, here I stand I don't feel too good Slightly weakened I wish you would Untie the knot Edited April 27, 200719 yr by Robski

April 29, 200719 yr You wired me awake And hit me with a hand of broken nails You tied my lead and pulled my chain To watch my blood begin to boil But I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run Too cold to start a fire I'm burning diesel burning dinosaur bones I'll take the river down to still water And ride a pack of dogs I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run Hits like a Phillips head Into my brain It's gonna be too dark To sleep again Cutting my teeth on bars And rusty chains, I'm gonna break my Rusty cage and run When the forest burns Along the road Like God's eyes In my headlights When the dogs are looking For their bones And it's raining icepicks On your steel shore I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

May 21, 200719 yr I was never a big John Denver fan and always thought this song a bit mushy, but I've been playing it lately. Maybe I'm going soft in my old age, it just seems apt when you're living half a world away form what you want. All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go, I'm standing here outside your door, I hate to wake you up to say good-bye. But the dawn is breaking, it's early morn, the taxi's waiting He's blowing his horn. Already I'm so lonesome I could die. So kiss me and smile for me, tell me that you'll wait for me, hold me like you'll never let me go. 'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again. Oh, babe, I hate to go. There's so many times I've let you down, so many times I've played around, I tell you now they don't mean a thing. Every place I go I'll think of you, every song I sing I'll sing for you, when I come back, I'll bring your wedding ring. So kiss me and smile for me, tell me that you'll wait for me, hold me like you'll never let me go. 'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again. Oh, babe, I hate to go. Now the time has come to leave you, one more time let me kiss you, then close your eyes, I'll be on my way. Dream about the days to come when I won't have to leave alone, about the times I won't have to say: kiss me and smile for me, tell me that you'll wait for me, hold me like you'll never let me go. 'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again. Oh, babe, I hate to go. I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again. Oh, babe, I hate to go.

May 23, 200719 yr Misty Blue by Dorothy Moore, was there ever a better Soul song made? This is what it's all about. If you haven't heard it, go and get it NOW. If you don't like it you don't have a heart. This is for my very special choccyholic friend. Oh, it's been such a long, long time Looks like I'd get you off my mind Oh, but I can't Just the thought of you Turns my whole world misty blue Oh honey, just the mention of your name Turns the flicker to a flame Listen to me good, baby I think of the things we used to do And my whole world turns misty blue Ooooh baby, I should forget you Heaven knows I tried Baby, when I say that I'm glad we're through Deep in my heart I know I've lied I've lied, I've lied Ooooh honey, it's been such a long, long time Looks like I'd get you off my mind But I can't Just the thought of you, my love My whole world turns misty blue Ooooh, Oh, I can't, Oh , I can't Oh, I can't forget you My whole world turns misty blue Ooooh, Oh, my love My whole world turns misty blue Baby, baby, baby, baby Baby, I can't forget you My whole world turns misty blue FANTASTIC!

May 25, 200719 yr I'm with Kayo on this. I must admit to enjoying my military history and have a fair sized collection of tombs on the subject. I have never once come accross an incident, never mind a war caused by pink hefferlumps. However, short fat men in white hats figure extensively.
June 1, 200719 yr Midnight to six man For the first time from Jamaica Dillinger and Leroy Smart Delroy Wilson, your cool operator Ken Boothe for UK pop reggae With backing bands sound systems And if they've got anything to say There's many black ears here to listen But it was Four Tops all night with encores from stage right Charging from the bass knives to the treble But onstage they ain't got no roots rock rebel Onstage they ain't got no...roots rock rebel Dress back jump back this is a bluebeat attack 'Cos it won't get you anywhere Fooling with your guns The British Army is waiting out there An' it weighs fifteen hundred tons White youth, black youth Better find another solution Why not phone up Robin Hood And ask him for some wealth distribution Punk rockers in the UK They won't notice anyway They're all too busy fighting For a good place under the lighting The new groups are not concerned With what there is to be learned They got Burton suits, ha you think it's funny Turning rebellion into money All over people changing their votes Along with their overcoats If Adolf Hitler flew in today They'd send a limousine anyway I'm the all night drug-prowling wolf Who looks so sick in the sun I'm the white man in the Palais Just lookin' for fun I'm only Looking for fun.
June 1, 200719 yr I wish I was so talented. It's the lyrics to 'White Man In Hammersmith Palais' by The Clash. Hammersmith Palais is a dancehall venue in West London. Have you ever seen 'Westway to the world'? It's a DVD history of The Clash with contributions from all the former members and managers, it has some great old footage and it really captures the period, the anarchy and the diversity of music and cultures and the meteoric rise and fall of the band, they went from playing small pubs in North London to Shea Stadium in New York in three years, and then literally went straight to hel_l and disintergrated on a tour of SE Asia. Fascinating and very well made, it's the rock and roll story par excellence. So sad to see Joe Strummer on there now that he has gone. Edited June 1, 200719 yr by Robski

Fascinating and very well made, it's the rock and roll story par excellence. So sad to see Joe Strummer on there now that he has gone. It always amazes me how lyrics are different when not backed by music. I know the song, not really well mind you, but now that you tell me it's Clash I can see it. I think more musicians should publish just nothing but lyrics so that the poetry of the words can be seen.
June 2, 200719 yr This thread is actually sounding like it is hanging together with coherent discussions - of music of all things! That's not what it was about! Neither is that what it became (until later). I want, for 2 seconds to talk about nothing... Avatars: Kayo's new one looks like the fatter, pinker version of Boo's. Like Austhaied's new one. Can't keep track of Coldcrush/Lopburiguy's. And I had to change mine, which I really liked, cos I kept getting mistaken for Jet! Huh! OK, finished now. We'll return you to your scheduled programme of music... I believe we were on The Clash... Vacuum cleaner sucks up budgie - Bye! Bye!
