A private, non-profit international broadcast operation seeks an Office Technician for its Bangkok office.

The Office Technician is the first point of contact for staff seeking technical assistance. The position provides on-site technical support and providing routine maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of the facility in Bangkok.

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain all Windows based workstations in the office ensuring that they are free of spy ware, viruses, unauthorized programs and that all software is properly and routinely updated.

  • Provide user support and service by being present in the office and available to users requiring technical assistance. Responds to inquiries and requests for assistance with the organization's technical systems. Identifies problems, troubleshoots and provides advice to assist users.

  • Provides assisted support for LAN, servers and telecommunications equipment by coordinating with technical staff in Washington DC to resolve problems when necessary.

  • Acts as primary organizational interface with vendor and provides analysis and support.

  • Follows standard Help Desk operating procedures by accurately logging all work into a duty report which is submitted to Washington DC monthly.

  • Enforces all company IS policies and maintains reasonable professional discipline and decorum in the office.

  • Use any free time not needed to fulfill the above duties to do self-training to develop your knowledge and skills. Become familiar with available help resources; stay updated on technology changes or problems.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Technology Officer and Office Manager.

General Requirements:

  • Candidates must have general computer knowledge and at least two years relevant computer experience. Working knowledge of common operating systems and software applications.

  • Candidates must be reliable, show initiative and be able to work independently without direct supervision.

  • Candidates must possess the ability to communicate clearly in English both in person and over the telephone is necessary.

  • Candidates must possess a helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.

  • Candidates must possess problem solving skills; ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.

  • Candidates must have the ability to handle constantly changing work flow; remain productive during slow times, be able to multitask effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations.

Term of Employment:

One year contract position, reviewed annually, renewable upon favorable review. Hours are 40-hours per week Monday through Friday during office normal business hours. Occasional weekend and after-hours emergency support as needed.
