Really?how about your trump bilking investors ripping off vendors(contractors) for those not in the industry’s bankruptcy after bankruptcy squandered daddy’s inheritance trying to sell out our election to foreigners I could go on and on and on common  You can do better than that

Change the bankruptcy laws which allow the rich (not just Trump) to walk away from failed-businesses scott-free?   Sounds good, except that's not how "limited liability" and "corporations" work - why people are willing to risk investing in them in the first place, because their personal wealth isn't at-risk.  Long tangent there on possible policy changes on this front - but hardly unique or relevant to Trump as POTUS.

As far as foreigners influence on our elections and govt in general - maybe you should take a look at how foreign-lobbying works in DC.  Russia is waaaaayyyy down the list of influence.  And the only "evidence" Russia "hacked" is one unverified report by a company called "Crowd Strike;" the Dems would not let the FBI look at their server, but hired an anti-Russian Ukranian-run company to do it.  No Bias there, I'm sure.  Nevermind the download speeds of the "hacked" data exceeded what was possible to do via the internet at the time - so was clearly "hacked" by someone with local-area-network access.

The Media in the USA is owned by transnational corporations who oppose the agenda outlined in the 2016 Trump campaign.  He hasn't fulfilled much of that agenda, sadly, but they still hate him for letting the American people prove-by-vote that anti-globalism is not a "fringe" position among the citizenry.

Biden comes as advertised, a decent left of center politician. I think both proposals are both good policy and good politics. The student loan thing is more of a Bernie issue, including Medicare at ag

  • The choice is simple, and I hope you can see it: If you DON'T vote for Biden, you get 4 more years (or more) with Trump. Is that what you want? If you DO vote for Biden, you get a decent man

You are all bickering as if the fault lines of American politics are still the same.

Just for fun, allow me to lay out some bold predictions.

The rise of the new authoritarian left is over. The peak of the fever was when it appeared, very briefly, as though Bernie would win the nomination. Democrat voters took a long hard look at him, and decided No. When it came to the crunch, they opted for dementia over crazy.

With the closure of the universities, the bubble of student politics has popped. It will still swirl around Twitter for a while but, without a Democrat candidate they like, the election will not energize them. Some of them may end up just getting an online job, relax into a normal life, and start voting Republican shortly after they pay their first tax bill.

The battle cries of the authoritarian left worked well in universities, were young people are desperate to fit in, but it was always tone deaf to the interests of regular Americans. Now, with real economic problems and actual fear to deal with, Americans are going to be even less willing to be lectured to about their "privilege" and how deplorable they are.

This is one of those "Emperor has no clothes" moments: the power that the authoritarian left had over the media will start to evaporate. Slowly at first, but then with brutal speed. You are going be hearing far less anti-science nonsense about gender, and freedom of speech will regain the respect it once had.

While the authoritarian left has been angry, loud, and intolerant over the past few years, regular Americans have been slowly absorbing frameworks of thought that are more meaningful to them. The Internet has led to an explosion of interest in thinkers, such as Jordan Peterson, who equip them with the analytical tools to see through the more strident, hypocritical positions of the authoritarian left.

One of the great untold stories of this period is how many thoughtful left-wingers, alienated by the intolerance and hate that has come to characterize their side, have become more open to ideas that do not conform to the strict set of opinions that the authoritarian left will allow.

We will see the emergence of a more traditional left, with less divisive rhetoric and a focus on the things that matter to working Americans. All the talk about being racist if you are against open borders will quietly disappear.

The rest of American politics will rebalance in response to the changes on the left. Trump will be the last populist Republican president for a few decades.

Sure, but were they running, in a TV and Internet age, against a guy with clear signs of dementia?

I don't say that as a partisan. I genuinely think this is something you should worry about if you actually want to get Trump out.

Bio-recessions may be different. Just wait for Chloroquine to kick in.

Trump, the slayer of big pharma. Obama could only bow.

Don't forget you promised to meet up here on election eve. Looking very forward to see who actually has a pulse on America. Also my bet with CryingDick having her avatar changed to a trump hairdoo

I agree, that angle is his best shot. Even before C-19, most Americans wanted a break from all the drama.

Biden just needs to be careful not to undermine the "good old dependable Joe, a safe pair of hand" narrative by reacting erratically or aggressively to members of the public while on the campaign trail. He has done that a couple of times and it has the potential to really hurt his whole pitch.

It will certainly be interesting to see how it all shakes out. It strikes me as almost impossible to predict, but that makes it all the more fun to try.

Many of the jobs grads get at Starbucks or similar don't pay enough to repay the loan on time.  What starts as delinquent becomes default and the grad then has a compounded problem of bad credit score so ends up living with parents. Paying it back costs more and takes longer. I have not lived in any country that has this system in decades so only see what is in the press.  Looks like a long slog for grads with student loans.  Better find some other way of getting an education!

When I came to California I was paying $2.50 a unit.

Oh, the Daily Wire, just the place to go to get your far right wing, conservative bent on the news.

Just more useless noise from Ben Shapiro and company.

Careful, your bias is showing. If you read both the Guardian and Wire articles you will find them remarkably similar, but I guess you would not deem to read the DW because of your prejudice.

I did read both of them and stand by my statement. One read as news. Another left out facts which skewed the article. Take your guess at which one.

There is a fair point here. I got a full grant - not a loan - when I went to technical college to study something useful, which then provided me with a living for over 30 years, and enabled me to pay tax on my own income and on my employees income. Big profit for the government. It was like a Marshall plan, the kind of inspired economics the USA could be proud of when they still though big and positive, and didn't elect crooks, (the new deal was another one).  Scotland still gives grants for tuition fees, England is languishing in the dark ages by comparison. Both of them however do not pay living costs for students.

Whilst I laugh at idiocies like gender studies, I suppose there are many old boomers who studied Latin, or Greek. Not a lot of ancient Greeks or Romans you can talk to nowadays. Ever generation has its imbecilities.

I'm a bernie or bust voter... but the way Trump has handled coronavirus might actually lure me, and others like me, to the polls in November.

That's good to hear.

Biden has his weaknesses as does any candidate but there are huge differences between now and 2016 and don't forget even in 2016 HRC won the popular vote massively and basically the polls were very accurate on that but missed something almost impossible to detect -- 45 winning four states by a total of only about 70,000 votes, basically nothing.

So now we're here.

Biden is generally liked personally by most of the public of any party. 45 fans want to beat him and Bernie bros find him too corporatist and moderate but they really don't HATE him on a PERSONAL level. He's got the classic winning presidential quality of being the kind of person Americans would like to have a beer with.

HRC on the other hand inspired a rabid kind of hatred in a significant part of the population related to misogyny but also much more specific to her public persona.

45 in 2016 was a ball of potential and speculation. You could imagine what he was anything you wanted him to be and suckered into liking that. Such as remember there were even people here actually believing that he would be favoring universal health care. Incredible that people bought that con, but they did, but they won't this time.

This time we know full well what he is. He doesn't improve He gets worse. He didn't ever become presidential, he changed the presidency to fit his truly bizarre authoritarian narcissism.  He mostly retains his loyal cult of personality base of about 35 percent, but that is not a formula for victory.

It's Biden's race to lose and the Bernie people will be onboard … ENOUGH.

Trump’s narcissism is endangering his reelection. His own advisers admit it.

President Trump’s advisers are reportedly deeply worried that his narcissistic daily briefings on coronavirus are hurting his reelection chances. That’s revealing, in that it shows Trump’s unshakable faith in his ability to manipulate the news cycle with his magical reality-bending powers is not shared by his data-focused team.

But what’s even more revealing is what those advisers won’t say about these displays.

I can't imagine even Biden being stupid enough to choose Sanders as VP. Every reason that Sanders was a vote loser with the MOR voter will return to burden Biden's campaign. They are both past it whatever Bernie's youthful supporters in their brain free ideological fervour think. I support Bernie's ideas, he is just a moderate in European terms, but I'm a realist, the youth vote doesn't win elections, ask Corbyn.

How about someone under 60, or even 50,  unlikely to pop his or her- clogs in office.

Why are people even talking about this? Not only would Bernie not want that, Biden has already promised to pick a woman VP and there is no reason for him to break that promise.

Can you imagine what government would do to a CEO of a company if he announced he is for sure going to hire a man as CFO? How is Biden promising to choose a woman as a running mate any less sexist? Oops!

If Biden courts the socialists, he loses the moderates, court the moderate and lose the socialists. The conundrum for him is he needs both. You can't simultaneously appeal to the Bernie people and then think you are going to also get those that are sane.

Yes, we are all well aware Joe Biden has committed to engage in sexual discrimination. And leftists celebrate it!

Downright surreal. And hilarious.

I predict Republicans tamp down support from the Bernie wing by educating them on Biden's (aka "The Senator from MBNA") decades-long screwing consumers to pay off his campaign contributions from banksters.
