Laos e-visa suspension extended until May 3

Originally, they suspended e-visas until April 20, but that has been extended until May 3 for now.

Does that mean Visas on Arrival for Laos are also suspended until May 3 too? Possibly it does.

Obviously, that will have major implications for those of us who had hoped to hop into Laos for whatever purpose after April 30, if the visa amnesty is not continued here in Thailand.

That's exactly why it will be continued.

Also how many entries per day can the border cope with. Needs to be gradual process.

Also I don't think it will be simple border bounce and re enter. What will be "other requirements". Quarantine or self isolation, medical , etc.

Almost 9000 Thai currently overseas have registered to return to los in April. It's suggested quarantine or at very least isolation will be required.

This is the latest info for Laos on the IATA site. https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/international-travel-document-news/1580226297.htm

LAO PEOPLE'S DEM. REP. – published 17.04.2020
Flights to Lao People's Dem. Rep. are suspended until 3 May 2020.

Before it only mentioned visas not being issued. I am sure there will be changes on or before the 3rd.

As the Emergency Decree is until 30 April in Thailand, and until early May in Laos, the borders won't be opening until then, so visas are irrelevant.

They will open the land border on May 1st. But if Thailand is not open to come back, it's a bit useless.

The taskforce in Laos have recommended lifting of some restrictions from 3 may.

Restrictions to remain include  closure of international borders for non essential travel. No issue of visa to countries where Covid 19 present.
