Special masks created for reading lips

The Social Development and Human Security Ministry introduced face masks especially created for people with impaired hearing on Tuesday (April 21).

Patcharee Arayakul, the ministry’s deputy permanent secretary, presented the masks at a press conference, explaining that the mouth area was covered in the transparent film so the hearing impaired can read lips when communicating.

She added that face masks are necessary for protection during this crisis and the ministry wanted to create one especially for people who rely on lip-reading.

Wow, that is fantastic.

Can they invent one that allows you to eat with the mask still attached?

Maybe one that automatically opens a small space so you can stuff your pie hole, then closes after a bite.

Could be a real invention coming.

For people with very mild hearing loss its only when you no longer see moving lips that you realise how important they are. Myself included

This is a very innovative invention which could be helpful to everyone. It allows us to read body language like smiling and frowning in a way that's impossible with other masks.

Only one problem with it .. it's the opposite side of the conversation that needs one.

Yes, I'm the same. Many times I've had to remind my wife to face me when she's talking to me!

My next extension meeting immigration could be interesting if we're all still masked up.

Is there not a possibility of looking like a goldfish in a bag like you used to win at the fair wearing one of these though ..

This period we're going through is quite an education. We tend not to notice consciously just how much communication between people is actually none verbal. It's not until the face is hidden that you realize it.

Now I know why I hate 'phones!

A crude and unnecessary post removed.

I thought you'd be carping on about something like that. It's cods-wallop.

That's a Tadpole over the top .. I haven't got to Hake that .. Mullet over a Bitterling more if you are still in Trout ..

Won't work at all.
Just take a look at the picture. The see through film will fog up, making it impossible to see/read the lips.

So guess this idea is a "fog up".

Surely the plastic film will steam up with normal breathing so back to square one.......LOL

Will these masks be Imported from the Uk, where they were Invented, or will they just be copied and called a Thai design.

Great,so do we call them Bill Clinton's?

I've just thought of one, but it it has nothing to do with eating.
