Buriram was on Wednesday (April 22) considering whether it should ease its restrictions its lockdown restrictions after the Northeast province recorded 20 days in a row with no new cases of Covid-19.

Governor Tachakorn Hatthatayakoon said the provincial communicable disease committee might allow flea markets and a Walking Street to open, but only for shops and stalls selling fresh or dried food and farm produce.

The committee will also make a decision on whether to allow restaurants and eateries to open to eat-in customers, but tables must be parted to allow social distancing. However, the ban on alcohol sales will remain in place.

Buriram has recorded 13 confirmed cases of Covid-19. One has died, 10 have recovered and the rest remain in hospital.
