Cancel extension of stay based on ED visa?

Dear all,

 

I have an extension of stay (90 days) based on ED visa and I'm going to leave Thailand soon from BKK airport.

 

Do I need to cancel my extension at Immigration or I can just leave without doing nothing?

If you don't want to come back on your current ED Visa you leave Thailand without going to the Immigration. That's it. No need to cancel your Extension or Visa at the immigration office.

No problem to leave the country without canceling it.

For me, I cancelled mine and was told I had 7 days to leave the country without penalty....but when I got to the airport I was fined for 5 days overstay as they said the cancellation was effective immediately.....best to just leave...

Who told you that false info. The free 7 days ended a long time ago. If you want it now you have to apply, pay the fee of 1900 baht to be granted 7 days to leave the country.
