Bender Rodriguez
in a previous post that has been closed, I talked about moving to a small condo My wife is acting strange in our difficult economic situation and now brought up that she wants to move in with her family and our daughter. I never had a good relationship with in-laws or rest of Thai family and my wife made clear that I would not be welcome ! If we end up in divorce, can I still stay here in Thailand by asking immigration to be on a "visa based of being a parent of Thai child" if we go for shared custody of our daughter ? My daughter would mainly stay with her mother and I would rent a small condo nearby and hopefully see my daughter in the week-end. Is that ok for immigration or does she need to live officially with me all the time to get me that type of visa ? not trolling ! serious question
ubonjoe
If you divorced and were given at least joint custody of your child you could apply for a one year extension of stay based the upon being the parent of a Thai. Your child would have to with you when you apply. You would also need photos of you and your child in and around your residence.

DrJack54
OP, immigration requirements is imo the smaller hurdle. You mention "difficult economic situation" Meaning no or little money. The wife and her family will (most likely) make things extremely difficult for you. Seen it many times over the years. You need plan B.
