Visa Extension

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I asked a question on here last week about the visa extension and was told

it had been passed by the goverment but was waiting for the royal decree

and to be published in the royal mail, has that happened and are all visa's

now extended until 31st july.

Also has the flight ban been extended as well,as i work in vietnam and the

country has lifted the restrictions bars, resturants, coffee shops etc are open

and they will make a decision on school's later this week about opening on the

4th may,so i could need an internal and international flight if the decision is to

open,

Regards,

Chris m.s

As of today you cannot fly into Vietnam.

"VIET NAM - published 01.04.2020

- This does not apply to passengers approved by National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
- This does not apply to airline crew. They will be subject to mandatory medical declaration and other effective regulations as well as observing self-quarantine during their stay until the next flight schedule."

For Thailand domestic flights other than to and from Phuket are available now and more airlines are going to be flying on May 1st.

I can't see Vietnam open airports to foreigners. Maybe folk with work permit different. They were one of first Asean countries to stop issue of VE, and visas etc along with no foreigners allowed. AirAsia may have flights on their app and even accept bookings June. That does not mean they will fly.

I have flight to Saigon June 12. Have written that off already.

On flip side AirAsia offered me free change of date for my April and May tripsto Saigon. Nothing offered re June trip at this point in time.

Can't see you eating egg roll in Bui Vien any time soon.

Not sure what you mean by visa situation.

For folk in Thailand with permission of stay stamp expiring after March 26 they can remain in Thailand till July 31. That amnesty date could even be extended.

As for visa for Vietnam, I have a visa but currently (same as Thailand and many countries) they are not allowing foreigners to enter. Apart from few exceptions. Samsung workers from Sth Korea etc

I could not even guess when I could next visit Vietnam. I certainly wouldn't even bet on a June visit.

For people such as you that live there, even when you can return, may be subject to quarantine.

Best of luck.

What's a royal decree? I think you mean Emergency decree. What do you mean by royal mail? Have you heard about newspapers and online news? Everything is available online the same day as the government makes the announcements. Try for example: Bangkok Post and The Nation. In Pattaya there are at least three websites: The Pattaya News, Pattaya One News and Pattaya Mail.

You are the one  (newbie) misinformed. When the Gov sets up emergency regs or new laws they must be published as a Royal Decree in Royal Mail to be official. Rumurs of changes posted in newspapers are NOT official untill posted in Royal Mail ( Royal Gazette )
