I have a SETV that will expire 9th June.  I obtained this just before the denial of entry into Thailand.

 

Am i right to consider this void if the bored opens and thats a BIG if

I don't recall seeing anything about actual visa validity being extended (others will chime in I'm sure).

 

It certainly would not hurt to ask the embassy that issued it if they have any policy in place.

 

Your tourist visa is be worthless after it expires. 

There was is a earlier topic done by person with the same problem as you have.

It would be worthwhile thought to contact the embassy or consulate that issued it. They might (a big might) issue you a new one since you are unable to use it. One person contacted the honorary consulate that issued his and they said they would issue a new one.
