tung tsz
Hi Guys, I am applying for a tourist visa in Hong Kong I am a 30 yr HK resident with HK ID card and a long term g/f in Thailand The Thai consulate refuses a non-immigrant visa point blank as I am not applying to go on business They also say only a single entry tourist visa is possible From postings here I got the impression that for a price I can get my single entry tourist changed to a multiple entry at Immigration in Thailand Am I right or wrong? I am happy to pay for my visa and any amendments but I have personal affairs in HK which may entail a couple of return visits in the next 3 mths at short notice which could invalidate a single entry after only a few weeks stay Before anyone asks - I am of good character, stable background in HK etc but HK Thai consulate seem very set in their ways and independent (They even told a friend recently that he needed 2 million baht for a retirement visa - not 800,000 baht) Any advice appreciated tung tsz

You can then get at immigration bureau in Thailand a re-entry permit (single or multi) which will allow you to re-enter within the 60 days. You can also extend the 60 days by another 30 days at immigration office in Thailand but I am not sure if the re-entry would cover the extension also. Lite Beer
The requirement for retirement is 800,000 in the bank or 65,000 monthly income. Dont know where they got the 2,000,000 from.
lopburi3
You do not qualify for a non immigrant visa (G/F is not going to make it). Single entry tourist visas are normal - especially if they feel it is to stay in Thailand rather than travel the region. You can not change a single entry to multi entry at Immigration. As said you can obtain a re-entry permit to keep your current permitted to stay period alive. An extension of stay would require a new re-entry permit for any travel during that time. astral
Hongkong has been long known for its unhelpful approach to visa issue.
noungning
if i have a tourist visa 1 entry from the US and want to change to 2 entries in BKK, is this possible? I'm purely traveling and have no intentions of living there, but I might leave Thailand and come back in because I want to visit my parent's home country. Or am I in the same situation as the OP and I can't change the entry amount? Thanks!
LivinLOS
You can get a re entry permit.. I think its only valid in the initial 60 days of the visa.. I dont know if you can use the visa 'extension time' of additional 30 days in the re-etry system.. Kinda doubt it..
noungning
i found another thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=115822 which is saying something along the lines of what i'm questioning. lopburi3 says that it can happen and an extension is possible? this means i go in thailand for 5 days, leave to laos for 5 days and come back, i can stay in thailand for 55 days using that visa, but i need to pay for that 1000baht fee to leave and re-enter [where about is this done? at the border or immigration?], and when i need the extension, i need to go into immigration and extend for another 1900baht? kind of confusing but if that works i think it answers my question. thank you ---edit ---- ok i read it again, it means i will have 50 days left because i just used 5 in thailand + 5 in laos, so i have 50 days left in thailand? lopburi3
You will come back to be stamped to the same permitted to stay date as when you were here the first time so you lose the time spent outside of Thailand but your permitted to stay and visa are kept alive and you can still extend your stay for 30 days. You obtain the re-entry permit at an immigration office. Border points may or may not be full office so I would do in Bangkok or where ever you plan to be rather than wait until the last second at the border; and maybe forget.
