jordanmarcinkus
I'm looking for avocado leaves. They're an important ingredient in mexican cuisine. The thing is that avocadoes of the Guatemalan cultivars (Persea americana) contain Persin, which is a fungicide that may be toxic to humans. In an experiment goats were fed large quantities of the leaves and suffered accordingly. Leaves of the Mexican cultivars (Persea drymifolia) don't contain persin. I've read that the leaves of the Mexican cultivars have an aniselike odor. Anyone know of a way of getting hold of Mexican avocado leaves?
kickstart
I would say you they would be like looking for hens teeth, here in Thailand they is a thread on Avocado's you could ask there . Like a lot of experiments ,if something is feed to excess you will have problems ,or like most things come to that .bit of a pointless experiment ,especially if you are a goat . Is they a way to get rid of the toxins ,steep the leaves in solution?, Google is your friend.
Time to grow
I have a single avocado tree near Nakhon Sawan. I couldn't tell you the variety but you are welcome to some leaves.
