Today at Hua Hin immi arrived at 10:40 and on my way out complete with another 12 months stay and 90 day stamps safely in my passport less than 25 minutes later. But strangely although in previous 12 times of renewal I’ve never had a problem and today being the 13th I was holding my breath especially with now needing health insurance and a full past years statements from the bank. So handed over everything to the person who checks everything and he flicked through the passport copies, I then handed him 21 pages from the bank, 13 for the past 12 months of keeping within the requirements, 7 for copies of my bank book  ( which he did ask me for so as well I had them) and 1 for the letter. To my surprise he never even glanced at even one of these pages, and he then handed everything back to me along with my number. Upstairs and within minutes my number is called and the officer did exactly as the officer checking everything did and not one glance at these bank pages again nor even a comment on my health insurance certificate and within a couple of minutes was busy placing stamps in my passport which was then handed to the chief for his ok and then handed back to me. All in all the most pleasant visit ever to immigration.

If this is the new and improved attitude of Immigration...what a wonderful relief for long term stay visa holders.

Thanks for the report.

What a nice story.

Well done mate, u must have  an attitude that shines outward even to non speaking Thai immigration officers.

So you only had to submit 39 photo copies Of this and that and now you are thanking corona for this smooth procedure or what is it ?

I haven’t got a clue to what point you’re trying to make and are you being cynical or humorous?

After 10 renewals at Hua Hin....my experience has always been a good one. I believe they try to make it problem free within the obvious rules.

i went to hua hin immigration with a mate of mine about a year ago, as they opened after lunch. he wanted a 30 day extension. only one other person in there.

the youngish IO took his passport and photos, filled the form out for him, a couple of minutes on the computer, a bit of stamping on forms and in the passport. a big smile, wai and a thank you.

done and dusted in less than 10 minutes.

nice relaxed atmosphere, most impressed.

The same happened to me at the Cha Am immigration 3 weeks ago. We went there to transfer my mum's retirement visa to her new passport and request a one-year extension (2 things to do). The whole process took less than an hour and was a piece of cake. Maybe this is just temporary until the Chinese come back, but that's a good sign.

there was a bit of a snappy woman there before, but she seems to have left now

all the others there are really nice ????

Once Thailand opens back up, my wife and I will moved to Sattahip. Before all of the covid-19 restrictions, it was my understanding that medical insurance was not required on a marriage visa. Has this changed?

A marriage extension does not require medical insurance.
