With Bangkok shopping malls set to reopen on Sunday (May 17), Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited Paragon and Central World on Thursday to see if Covid-19 preventive measures had been put in place in the stores.

He said shopping malls need to be well-prepared before reopening because they attract crowds, which may lead to a second-way of transmissions.

“Collaboration from the public can help prevent a second outbreak,” the minister said. “The private sector must be prepared to help with economic recovery and adjust to the new normal.”

The Department of Health was also tasked to check on malls’ water systems, their food courts as well as launch an evaluating platform called “Thais stop Covid” to boost confidence in the authorities steps to prevent infections.

if he is involved, sure to be a series of screwups, followed by pathetic excuses and 'clarifications'

The health minister should know better than to have people standing within inches of each other hopeless .

I wonder if this will translate to big savings as the companies scramble to sell their stock while they're still solvent.

It might be time to go shopping next week.

But I've already read your post.

on the subject of face masks

many Thai officials and on TV are now not wearing them but instead wearing these face screens that actually protect nothing because they are at least 20cm from the face - lets imagine someone sneezing - it will be projected out the sides top and bottom and spray all over the place into the air - these are effectively not effective at containing anything

If the rule is wear a mask then (deleted) wear one otherwise don't bother and don't try to replace a mask with a stupid shield that catches nothing

They are even wearing them reading the news - hilarious

He’s just after some freebies, maybe a watch or two.

Good to see he remembered the mask this time.

Not so good on the 2 metres social distancing but given his intellect, 1 out of 2 isn't bad.
