Video: The kindness of the Thai police! Motorcyclist taken home and even given food

Thai media Daily News slathered on the praise for the Thai police after the RTP page on Facebook featured a gesture of kindness from the tourist cops.

It was a great contrast to the other week when a foreigner was reportedly charged 2,000 baht to be taken home.

A video featured a young Thai motorcyclist - not wearing a helmet - who was given a hand, literally, to get home after his vehicle broke down.

An officer extended the long arm of the law for the boy to grab and get him back to mum.

In addition the officers bought the family some Mama noodles and tinned fish, it was reported.

The media went with "The Kindness of the Thai Police" in their caption and quoted the officers as saying:

"Take my hand, I'm taking you home".

It was not reported where this occurred though it stands in marked contrast to the Pattaya police who it was alleged charged an old foreigner 2,000 baht to take him home during curfew a couple of weeks ago after a beach ban violation, notes Thaivisa.

Smart cop. I did something similar when I brought an old couple here some food. Only problem was I forgot my phone so couldn't record it. What a waste of time that was.

RTP page on Facebook

And the source already makes it crystal clear that this entire charade was staged and orchestrated as a face-saving measure. Or how many videos on police extortion and tea money collection has this FB page ever featured in the past? None? I am not surprised.

I can almost imagine the scene:

Superior officer: "Lance Corporal Somchai, grab one of your colleagues and quickly find some lost motorist out there who needs help. Make sure you record everything on video!"

Lance Corporal Somchai: "But boss, I was just about to embark on the daily protection money collection round and fining people on trumped up charges..."

Superior officer: "That has to wait until tomorrow. We first need to do some damage control because the brothers in Pattaya messed up once again."

Lance Corporal Somchai: "I understand. On my way, Sir."

Kindness? Not so when it comes to encouraging morons to get on bikes without a helmet. More like complicity in the daily slaughter.

Mmmmm..........If that was a Farang he would be fined for not wearing a helmet, not wearing a face mask, improper footwear, riding with the pillion footrests down..........

A few good eggs in the basket.

must be so difficult for them to survive amidst such nepotism n corruption.

no helmet and no mask

The kindness of an imbecile, dragging a kid without a helmet behind his car. Their combined IQ probably didn't exceed the capacity of that scooter motor.

That would make for a great video. But for a different FB page, of course.

Believe it or not but back in 2016 when i was living in Nakhon Pathom, one night i got very drunk and went to the nearby mom & pop shop and sat on the outside table to drink. I chatted with a thai guy that was very friendly but then he left and i was left alone drinking. After an hour or so, the police showed up (2 cars) with 1 female (dressed in civilian) and around 6 polices.

I had absolutely no idea what this was about (I guessed the owner of the shop wanted me to go away) and they asked me a bunch of questions for around 30 minutes in the back of a car (they asked me for ID but i told them it was at home and they didnt ask again). After that, 2 cops were assigned to me to drive me. Even though i wasnt living really far from the shop (maybe 15 minutes) they offered me to drive me to a nearby guesthouse to spend the night. Once we got there (one cop was driving my motorcycle, i was on the backseat of the other cop bike) i expected that i would have to pay. When i tried to pay the room, one of them told me: mai pen rai and they left me there wishing me good luck and to have a good night. They paid for my room and drove me for free (i tried to give them money but they refused).

That was one of the most bizzard situation ive been in Thailand so far lol.

Misspelled showed up with shower.

2 people featured in the video not wearing masks and the risk of accident whilst towing is plain to see.

But still a nice gesture even if it staged.
