One year permit to stay from multiple non O marriage

Featured Replies

Dear all,

I tried to read as much as possible in the current threads about the non O visa based on marriage.

My situation is as follows:

Western European nationality

Non O multiple entry visa expired April 18 (issued in Savannakhet).

Last 90 day stamp expires June 17.

I opened a local bank account and as per July 20 it will have 400 000 Baht on it for two months.

My goal is to switch to a one year permit until next year.

Should I go to immigration in Bangkok and extend 60 days, so the visa stays valid? Or do I not have to do that, because it would stay valid until end of July anyway?

I'm getting mixed opinions about this, so I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thank you all very much in advance.

I suggest you apply for the 60 day extension to be certain you will be able to apply for the one year extension of stay when you have the 400k baht in the bank for 2 months.

It is not clear that all offices will consider the amnesty an extension of your original entry.

Good time to do the extension, virtually no waiting as very few doing visa's at this time

I recently changed from METV s to non O me based on marriage. When I was on the METV I tried many banks to open an account and was unsuccessful. What were your experiences opening an account on non O me.

I recommend Bangkok Bank. If you get a letter from your embassy certifying, that your passport is genuine, they don't seem to care about the type of visa.

They didn't ask me for any proof, that I'm married.
