Simple Smart Phone

Recommended Posts

Looking to buy in the next few days my first simple Smart phone - prefer it not to be Apple.

I already have a basic pocket phone which is suitable for local calls.

Recently had cataract op which means I can now see a Smart phone size screen.

I am used to using a laptop for internet.

My finger touch is very variable as my work has been with animals and i tend to be light or over pressure when trying out Smart phones.

Firstly which would be the best phone, one where my fingers can touch only the edge of the phone or one where the screen is slightly inset ?

What size screen but not something bulky as I don't carry a handbag ( although do carry a backpack ! ) ?

I would only use the phone occasionally for contacting family, friends using LINE or Skype, possibly taking pictures and email, the later unlikely.

Not interested in playing games or watching films or playing music.

Prefer not to use Google.

Need a phone with good quality sound and clear text.

Need a phone with a good easy to see keypad and one that has biggish keys.

A phone that is EASY to use.

Price up to 10k.

Simple advice please as I am not tech minded re phones.

A Huawei, or a Samsung galaxy would be fine for you.

Both decent quality.

You can choose the size of the keypad in the settings, so you can pick the largest size keys.

You can also pick the font size on your screen in settings.

This goes to quite large letters.

I advise you to get a good folding case to protect your phone from damage, and also a film screen protecter at your point of purchase, so it's all nice and clean and good to go.

Good luck not using Google... They're pretty much involved in most things of use with a smartphone, and are also a very good go to soarce for info for just about anything.

Many thanks for the suggestions and hints about keypad.

Should I get one suitable for 5g or aren't they available yet ?

Any suggestions about battery, memory and processing speed ?

Shame about Google, however most if not all my searches for info will be on my laptop.

waiting for a Xiaomi Redime Note 8 from Lazada, ordered yesterday.

4GB Ram, 64GB memory, 4000 mAH battery, 4 cameras all for 4753 baht .

And it makes phone calls too!

4000 milliamps is more than enough battery life for normal use , more than a day between charging.

At less than a hundred quid u wouldn't even want to bother changing battery, just buy another phone when it's knackered.
