zzzzz
And only fools will fly in with this in place Cambodia requires foreigners to pay for COVID-19 test, quarantine, treatment services Cambodia has required foreigners to pay for COVID-19 lab test, quarantine and treatment services, Economy and Finance Minister Aun Pornmoniroth said in a letter dated Monday and released to the media on Tuesday. The move was made at the request of the Ministry of Health, the letter said. Under the kingdom’s health measures, all travelers, both Cambodians and foreigners, who travel to Cambodia will be transferred from airports to waiting centers for COVID-19 lab tests and they are required to wait for the test results at those centers. The letter said a foreigner must pay $5 for a single trip between airport and waiting center, $100 for a COVID-19 test, $30 a day for staying at a hotel or at a waiting center to wait for the test result, and $30 a day for three meals. It added that if anyone of the passengers is tested positive for the COVID-19, the rest of the passengers in the same group will be quarantined for 14 days, and each of them will be required to pay 100 dollars for one test and 84 dollars a day for hotel or quarantine facility, meals, laundry and sanitary services, doctors and security service. According to the letter, for COVID-19 positive patients, each of them will be required to pay 100 dollars for one test (maximum four tests) and 225 dollars a day for hospital room, medical treatment service, meals, and laundry and sanitary services. It added that the cremation service charge for a dead body is $1,500. For the issuance of a health certificate on COVID-19, a foreigner is required to pay 100 dollars for a lab test and 30 dollars for the certificate, the letter said. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50732293/cambodia-requires-foreigners-to-pay-for-covid-19-test-quarantine-treatment-services/

Phase 2 Expats with work visa residence, NOT free 14 day Hotel accommodation, at own expense Phase 3 Expats with family type visas and retirement type, NOT free 14 day Hotel accommodation, at own expense Phase 4 Short term tourists what will the Thai Gov do for them?????

Popular Post Sheryl
Tourist visas are not even being issued so effect on tourism doesn't come into it at this point, tourism is on hold. And will obviously not come back while quarantine is required. Some of this info is old. They have now set up waiting area within the airport. And the test they use is rapid, just 2 hours (up to 3-4 allowing for specomen transport etc). So as long as one arrives in morning overnight lodging awaiting results can be avoided. But still have the quarantine if even one passenger was positive and all the flights I have read of did have at least one case. Even if all are negative still have to self isolate at home or in lodgings for 14 days. Would be interested in info on the hotel quarantine option -- which hotel and conditions. As that could be a deciding factor for some people. 2

Kaoboi Bebobp
This doesn't look like a short-term policy. It's looking like it will be months before Cambodia will drop the barriers to tourists. Cambodia was one of my get-out destinations. It'll all be dropped eventually when they (everywhere) realise this thing ain't going away but the need to earn from tourism would outweigh the risk.

No way the virus free countries in Asia will allow foreigners from high risk countries without quarantine any time soon.
zzzzz
and this just out today::: Quote The government has decided to charge all foreign visitors for lab testing, medical treatment and accommodation under health measures to prevent a second wave of COVID-19 (C-19) transmission in the country. “Upon arrival, all foreign passengers are required to deposit $3,000 at the airport to pay for the virus prevention services,” he said. “Passengers can pay in cash or through credit cards.” He added that those who test negative for the virus will only be charged the fees for the test and will be given back the remainder of their deposit. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50732611/foreigners-to-be-charged-for-c-19-quarantine-tests/ if using cc, minus a 3% cc fee,- a service charge, - lousy exchange fees. and who knows how many weeks/months to get ur $$ back tour account
Popular Post calbts2
Wow that has to be the most effective way yet to discourage any tourists to come to your country. Require a $3000 deposit and having to pay for quarantine through no fault or control of your own if someone else on your flight was infected. I don't even think rich fools would go for this one.

Cambodia does the same and arguably easier process - no COE hoops etc (though same 14 day quarantine). This is the CAMBODIA sub forum and the thread is about Cambodia, nto Thailand.
