Do I still need to get my 15 day extension after the first 15 days they gave me?

Featured Replies

I got told due to the amnesty coming into place after I got that special 15 day visa that I did not need to get the further 15 day extension that I was due to get Last month so I did not bother to get it but now a visa company is telling me If I want them to get me a longer visa to stay in the country I need to go and get the 15 day extension first? Is this true and if so will I be charged overstay?

I think the agency is correct. You have to have a valid permit to stay date.

The agency is correct.

The "Under consideration" is not a valid and confirmed extension as it is still under consideration.

You will need to receive the second 15 days to make your stay valid again so you can use the amnesty till 31 July.

(as long you where in the country with a valid visa/extension on 26 Match)

Ok, will we be charged overstay or not?

No you will not be fined for a overstay or even get a stamp.

Not if you under consideration stamp (to collect the second 15 days) was after 26 March 2020.

Otherwise they can fine you for overstay from the stamp date till 26 March.

If he collects his second 15 days as he should do then they will stamp his passport with the second 15 days stamp to make his stay valid again.

( at least that is what they do at Phuket immigration )

I doubt you will be charged for overstay. Technically, you do not qualify for the amnesty until July 31st as you do not have a valid permission to stay. However, the immigration office told you you did not need the confirmed permission to stay, and late stamps for confirmation of extensions under consideration almost never result in overstay. Was your previous permission to stay expiring on or after March 26th? If so, maybe the easy solution is for immigration to cancel your application for the 30-day extension. One way or another, there should be a solution.

Ubonjoe probably meant the overstay stamp.
